We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 7 years. After reading some of the more negative reviews I thought it was only fair to share my experiences.
The service is always excellent. Chris and Moya who run the hotel are always friendly and welcoming and regularly inform us of up and coming offers and speciality nights and weekends that the hotel offers. Amanda, Sue and other staff are amazing and would literally bend over backwards to help you out. One year we were a little late sorting out our getaway and Amanda worked tirelessly to find a three night stay for us (we needed two rooms) during the time we had off work. In one way I suppose this speaks for itself.... The hotel is very popular!!!
In terms of accommodation there is something to suit everyone. I prefer the more traditional rooms that are above the bar area. They have more of a 'suite' feel about them with arm chairs and a table making up a seating area. There is also a comfy double bed in these rooms and traditional pine furniture. My fiancé on the other hand prefers the modern rooms that have queen sized beds and an air conditioning/heating system that you can set to whatever temperature you want. We have stayed in many rooms in this hotel and have never had cause to complain. The rooms are always clean and comfortable and service always impecable. On one occasion there was a light bulb not working in our room, it was replaced in a matter of minutes. On another occasion we needed more towels, these were provided quickly. I think some of the negative comments about rooms on here must come from some very fussy people.
In terms of the restaurant and bar area, we have eaten and drank here on many an occasion. The food is good quality English food that is always served hot and with a smile. There are always specials to tempt you and great offers including surf and turf night on a Friday where you can get 2 meals for £12..... Value for money that cannot be beaten! The bar area is very traditional and cosy with two fires to keep you warm in the winter and a lovely patio area to enjoy in the summer.
The spa that is attached to the hotel is fantastic, and you can use all the facilities at no extra cost. The swimming pool is clean and well maintained, there is also a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi to relax in as well as a gym for the more active of you!
The hotel is well situated, you can walk to Caister beach in 5 minutes and reach many of the local shops in Caister in the same amount of time. In a car it takes about 10 minutes to drive to Great Yarmouth for more seaside fun or about 40 minutes to reach Norwich if you love shopping and city life!
All in all I would say this is the best hotel in this area! Come and experience it for yourself, it really is a home away from home for us. We wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else.
