These are not very extensive remains but the useful information boards give a really good impression as to the sheer scale of the place in the Roman period when is was occupied from around AD 200 until the end of the C4th. Useful for all those who, like us from the Roman city of Leicester, have an interest in the impact of the Roman civilisation on Britain. We happened to be the in the area and seeing the sign we just called in. I expect many others will do so too and be equally surprised at the closeness of the surrounding houses although I’ve cropped my photos to remove them. A half hour will do it but it is free and there is a useful layby so you are able to park safely off the road.
