“Fabulous food and service, cant wait ro return”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

When we were on holiday last summer we heard great reviews about this place but did not have chance to visit. I celebrated my 50th birthday last week and was back with my family a party of 10 and decided to book a table for my birthday meal. Everything was superb, fantastic food, every course cooked to perfection. Excellent value for money and wonderful service. Everyone in the party was talking about the quality of all of the food. We were made to feel so welcome and not rushed even though we were the last ones to leave. A fantastic find, so looking firward to our next visit.

“Lovely for lunch”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

We thought it would be quiet here on a wet Tuesday lunchtime in March - how wrong we were! In the event, we were lucky to get one of the tables near the bar. Even luckier to get the one by the window, with the view of the spectacular market building over the road.

The cooking is definitely several notches up on most other local lunchtime deals, though the price is not so much higher: 15.50 euros for the no-choice three courses ("only three courses?!" our daughter asked when we told her about it later), but drinks are not included and a half-litre of wine came in at 6.50 euros.

But this was ambitious cooking, using elaborate ingredients...the menu (chalked up on a blackboard left by our table) made for fascinating reading. Excellent value at less than 40 euros, including wine and coffee. We'll be back!

“Comfy Internet Access too”
Reviewed 14 December 2013

Apart from the excellent food, the owners welcome you sitting inside the bar and allow you free access to their wifi over a coffee or hot choccie (or beer).

“It's not surprising!”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

It really isn't surprising that this restaurant receives rave reviews. My wife and I were holidaying in the area and were advised to make a visit to this wonderful restaurant. We have visited this area of France a number of times over the years and unfortunately some of the meals we have had in recent years have been disappointing. Thank goodness for Le Lavalette, our faith has once again been restored in French Cuisine. The food was exquisite, served by and attentive and hospitable staff and in a wondrous setting. If you are in the area you really must visit this restaurant.

“Great food, wonderful location under les halles”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

It's difficult to find food of this quality in the UK, particularly given the wonderful setting if you eat outside under the wooden roof of les halles (the market). Vin en pichet is very reasonable and the restaurant could not be more accommodating if you have particular needs - one of our party is gluten-intolerant - it's very friendly. We ate here on three occasions, including lunch and dinner - the latter being the one to go for if you can. If there is to be a criticism, it's the lack of variety with kids meals. But it is a truly great restaurant and worth a visit if you can.
