“Fantastic old English charm”
Reviewed 25 March 2012 via mobile

Stayed for 1 night to celebrate my wife's birthday. The first impression of the manor house is very impressive. This place is steeped in history and I would like to have seen more made of the history with may be a page or two in your room telling you about the place. The staff here are fantastic! Very courteous, attentive and polite. A little thin on the ground but they work their socks off to ensure your never left wanting. This is a very quiet and relaxing place, it can feel a little like a library at times, but this is fantastic if you want to relax and spend a little me time. The grounds are fantastic and makes for a nice walk after a super breakfast.
The rooms are a little old fashioned, but that is to be expected. However, our room (4) did not have a shower. It would have been better to have the bath replaced with a shower. That said the room was clean and tidy.
The manger did a walk around at dinner (very nice guy) and explained that the hotel was under new management with big changes planned. If they stick with the charm but modernise the rooms this would be a clear 5 star trip advisor rating.

We stayed here for one night recently, and had dinner in the restaurant. The restaurant was very good - excellent food. Not cheap, we had the more expensive of the two menus, but worth it.

There is a large lounge area with a log fire, medieval style as is the restaurant.

The room was large (room 15, in the main house). In comparison with the lounge/restaurant areas, the room and stairs could be smartened up a bit, but overall a nice room. The other accommodation building was close by - also an old style building.

The gardens looked nice, but unfortunately it was raining heavily on the second morning, so we didn't get to explore them. Will stay here again next time we're in the area - hopefully better weather then.

The hotel is in a good location - A34 and M40 within a couple of miles. Blenheim Palace less than half an hour away, we had a good day there.

A one night, two day stay on business. Great service, food, bar and grounds with plenty of parking. The bedrooms are a little dated and could do with some tlc.

Room Tip: Lots of stairs to navigate and good look finding room 10!

Stayed for two nights on half board, we had room 16 which is a "Superior room", had a problem with the hot water (we did not have any) and this continued throughout our stay,
We did complain and were offered another room but was only a standard and not what we wanted.
Would have checked out had the food and serivice offered by the staff not been so good, and as my wife told me "cold showers are invigorating !!".
When we eventually got to speak with a manager our complaint was rectified with a satisfactory outcome.
Definatly rather tired and worn around the edges and would benefit from some updating, but lovely setting and service, just make sure you take a jacket or jumper if dinning at any time other than mid summer.

Room Tip: Definatly avoid room 16 unless this review prompts a revamp then this may well be the one to have...

We used the Weston Manor hotel to host a couple of dinners on consecutive evenings in early January - one for around 25 people and the other for around 80 as had organised an event nearby that attracted some of the cream of the motorsport industry from around the world. As the dining room was too small to accommodate this larger number, we used the marquee that had been set up in the grounds of the hotel. While this was a risk bearing in mind the time of year and the possible weather conditions, it was one we thought worth taking and in the event, everything was fine and the way that the marquee was decorated was superb.

I have to comment on the really superb meals that were served to our guests on both nights as they were of the highest quality. We had already had a food tasting session at the hotel in November and had selected the menu, but when serving to a large number, it can go wrong, but not in this instance. What also helped was the very attentive staff who played their part in making both evenings a great success.

We chose the hotel as the recommended venue for our speakers and delegates as it is so different from the characterless ones that are so often selected for corporate events and we were warmly congratulated on our choice. It might not have had all the facilities of a modern 5 star hotel while having creaky floorboards and a slightly bizarre room numbering system, but it really did the job. Its quirkiness actually added to its appeal, especially for our overseas guests. Furthermore, the breakfast each morning was also a great way to start the day.

Would we go back there again? Certainly - the venue, the food, the staff were all superb.

What a pleasant surprise. The Weston Manor Hotel lies just outside Oxford. The extensive grounds and the hotel are wonderful. My wife and I stayed for three nights in November 2011 and got to know the hotel and its staff well. We attended a christening of our granddaughter and the hotel hosted the reception and a Sunday buffet lunch for more than 40 guests. The dining room with its minstrel gallery was an excellent luncheon venue. The staff members were attentive, the breakfasts were just right and we had a front-facing double room which we are certain to again use on our next visit. Highly recommended.

I have delayed writing this review as I really wanted to love the hotel and give it an "Excellent", but there were too many little niggles that let it down. This is my third visit but my first overnight, which I think made a difference. We stayed overnight for a Christmas party and overall had a great time.

I love the antiquity, the setting, the gardens, the quirkyness of the rooms, the Baronial Hall has such a sense of occasion, the whole hotel (main block) has a real feeling of history it's fantastic. However, the bar had virtually no comfy sofa's, just pub tables and chairs. The lounge which is in fact the entrance hall is the same. There is no feeling of the hotel wanting you to stay and lounge around.

I know food at Christmas parties is never great, but the turkey was particularly dry, however a much bigger disappointment was the breakfast. Although they "Cooked to order" the bacon had very obviously been sitting on a hot plate for quite some time. I appreciate that our Christmas do and breakfast were both in the Baronial Hall, however the hotel knew what time the party would finish (midnight on the dot), therefore to find debris of our party still there at breakfast was disappointing. More importantly, those of us staying were extremely disappointed to find the bar locked and bolted at 12.01, therefore no night cap was available (maybe a good thing). On mentioning this at check out, we were told if we had asked they would have brought us a drink to the lounge, but strangely there was no one to ask at 12.01.

As I said, on the whole I LOVE the hotel, but sort out the little things and the Very Good becomes Excellent, especially at the price being paid.

Room Tip: Room 8 appears to be one of the smaller rooms, with the bathroom bigger than the bedroom
