“Great find on the green!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2013

My wife and I dined at the manor on a groupon deal for the five course tasting menu. The manor is a beautiful and interesting building, full of character, set in several acres of peaceful impressive gardens. We arrived early and enjoyed a drink in the welcoming lounge until we were taken through to the Barons hall for dinner, this is a dining room fit for a king with wood panelled walls and a minstrels gallery, it would make an ideal venue for a special occasion. The tasting menu was expertly prepared and was most enjoyable, coffee and petit fours were included into the price. The staff were cheerful and helpful and also very professional, especially the manager who seems to genuinely care that everything is to your satisfaction. We had to drive sixty miles home afterwards, but we considered it well worth the effort. On the strength of our delightful experience we have already booked a three night stay since we arrived home.

We stayed at the Manor in early-May as part of a Groupon offer.
We were allocated a room in the main house which was comfortable, full of character and quiet.
The grounds are very impressive, and thankfully we had fantastic weather to enjoy them. After a short stroll we settled down to a cold drink overlooking the croquet lawn. Very relaxing!
For dinner, I reserved a table at Bertie's Bar, which is quite small, but very pleasant. I think this is mainly used for pre/post restaurant drinks. I didn't really fancy the taster menu (i'm sure it is amazing but just not to my tastes) and was initially a bit worried that we would miss out on the full dining experience. Thankfully, the bar food was brilliant and quite reasonable. We ordered two manor burgers which genuinely rank highly on my all time favourite burgers list!.
Drinks are expensive, but given the environment, I think that is to be expected. After dinner, it was nice to return to a turned down bed with slippers laid out!.
The staff really work hard to make your stay enjoyable, from the friendly, knowledgeable bar staff, to the receptionists, breakfast staff and manager who can frequently be seen wandering the halls maintaining the high standards!
The continental breakfast was included in the deal and more than enough for us, although i'm sure the cooked options would have been great.
Overall, well worth the money.

We went here on a Groupon deal offering a 5 course tasting menu dinner, bed and continental buffet breakfast for £135. The Hotel is just 10 minutes from the Bicester Outlets so my wife was delighted by its location and we spent almost 4 hours there before arriving at the Hotel. A warm and friendly welcome at reception and we were shown our room by the Manager (no less). Our room was in the main house, spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The tasting menu was excellent but the portions were on the small side, so much so that we would have eaten the same again!! We had our coffee and petit fours beside the roaring log fire in the Reception area. Ready for bed we had no trouble slipping into our comfortable, turned-down bed and enjoying a noise-free sleep. The continental breakfast is more than adequate but we decided to treat ourselves to Eggs Benedict. When they arrived they were very enjoyable, but it took 45 minutes!! The Manager arrived to apologise and explain the delay. He also removed the charge from our final bill (without any need for me to push for this). So full marks to this Hotel and its staff for its efforts to meet its guests' needs. The Hotel dates back many centuries which contributes greatly to its charm and appeal. We loved it but it may not be everyone's cup of tea.

Room Tip: Being in the main house avoids the need to brave the elements when eating or visiting the bar. The A...

We stayed in early April 2013 as part of a deal with Groupon.
The Manor is impressive at first glance and set in a nice area.
We were placed in a ground floor room in the coach house building which is separate from the main house.
I know that refurbishment is underway in this building, but really it cant happen fast enough.
The room was very dated, as was the bathroom.
Tea and coffee should have been provided. From memory, I think the Manor house website says that port / sherry is provided in every room, this wasn't the case in ours.

As part of the Groupon deal we had a five course taster menu. This was excellent and I think really made the stay for us.
The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly.

The bar is pretty small and prices are on the step side.
Groupon deal promised a breakfast, but the one provided was continental, rather than a full English , I would say that this is a Groupon fault rather than the Hotel.

We managed to sneak a look at some of the rooms in the main building and they do like nice.
So overall, I would say that a potentially really good stay was somewhat let down by décor and condition of the room we stayed in.

Went away for my husbands 39th birthday with a groupon deal. We were allocated a room in the main house. On arrival the first thing that greats you is a massive open fire which dates back centuries and friendly staff. We had the taster menu as part of the deal and the food was fantastic as was the gorgeous dinning room we dined at .we were very impressed and would defiantly return as this was our fort visit to the cotswolds .

I can't recommend this hotel enough. A fantastic place to stay just north of Oxford. The Manor is exceptionally clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful / friendly. The 5 course tasting menu eaten in a fantastic panelled dining room will be something I shall always remember. The only minor criticism I have and it is minor...,.no tea and coffee making facilities in the room
