We stayed here at the last minute on a Saturday night after other plans had fallen through. We found the hotel to be a very good 4 star quality Manor house. The bar and lobby area is very cozy and welcoming. Our room (standard room) was rather basic but perfectly adequate for our short stay. Everything was modern with a fully refurbished bathroom. The staff were all fantastic from booking to check out, and we'd love to come back in the nicer weather and be able to enjoy the grounds.

We dined in the restaurant, which was spectacular, and have reviewed that separately.

We were so pleased to learn from your feedback that you enjoyed your recent stay and dinner in the restaurant, and your kind comments have been conveyed to all the team.

We do hope that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back when the weather is warmer, to enjoy our beautiful gardens and relax on the sunny terrace. Or, if you are feeling more energetic, a dip in the outdoor pool or a game of tennis on our new hard court!

Arriving in the small village of Weston-on-the-Green, I saw an ancient pub named The Black Sheep which turned out to be a gastro pub owned by the hotel down the road, The Manor.

I turned into a grand and imposing drive with beautiful grounds and opened the gigantic ancient door to reveal a baronial hall with log fire… large russet sofas… classic paintings… a giant illustrated book of Shakespeare on a neat antique desk… and the reception area tucked discretely to the side.

I felt I had wandered into a stately home, or National Trust property after opening hours.

I enquired about the availability and cost of a room at reception, expecting the worst, only to find that there was a double room vacancy with breakfast for £100.00 inclusive.

I had fallen into the lap of luxury – and for less than the cost of the average standard modern chain in most towns in the UK!

The Manor dates back to the 12th century with additions, and under new private management, is quite eco-friendly. It has undergone a tasteful restoration retaining most original features and furnishings.

I have stayed in various hotels in various countries over the years, from the downbeat to the most luxurious on occasion. However, I can honestly say that this hotel was one of the most pleasant I have ever stayed in – made even more enjoyable by the informal, friendly staff.

The Manor is a very special place steeped in history and charm and it was pleasing to read your warm and sincere comments regarding our recent renovations. The Black Sheep has also recently been refurbished and offers a relaxed and warm atmosphere in which to enjoy a refreshing drink and hearty home cooked food utilising fresh local produce.

Our recent Golden Wedding celebration at the Manor fulfilled all our hopes and expectations: we and our 50 guests enjoyed the highest standards of service at this enchanting venue. Throughout the long period of planning, the hotel had listened to all our requests and the event rolled out exactly as planned. Most of our guests chose to stay overnight. Arriving in the afternoon they received a warm welcome and joined an informal gathering in the first-floor lounge, with tea or coffee and biscuits. We were able to bring our own cake and display cards and photographs, and a DVD of our wedding was relayed on a TV screen in the snug. In the evening, after mulled wine in the bar, we moved to the resplendent Baron's Hall for a delicious 3-course banquet, everyone being expertly served with their pre-arranged menu choices and wines. The staff were wonderful and our guests all wrote afterwards to tell us that they had loved the whole occasion. We certainly hope to return and heartily recommend the hotel for an event like ours.

Room tip: Rooms 3 and 4 are both beautiful and can be booked together for a family group at a special rate.

I arranged dinner at the Manor on two occasions this week hosting some of our overseas clients.

We dined at the Baron's hall. Everyone had a fantastic time! The food and service are Michelin standard, the pricing is reasonable. I would strongly suggest you try it before it gets its first Michelin star and it should not take that long for them.

The Baron's hall is over 900 years old and it is certainly the oldest venue I had dinner in. The setting, the well maintained features from the past, they are pure traditional! Absolutely great!

We also had the opportunity to tour their kitchen and the Junior suite on the second hosting. And my clients just loved the whole experience. We had a brief chat with Larry and Charlie showed us around, and the suite was very recently renovated and it was nice and again some of my clients said they would like to be back and stay there for sure.

So well worth the money spent, everyone loved it and we shall be back soon!

Had booked through Secret Escapes to celebrate a friends 50th. Found the staff to be very friendly and the food was amazing. Even though we had got it at a really good deal they all treated us to a five star experience
