“Complete relaxation in this little piece of Heaven!”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We stayed at The Bothy over Easter weekend for two nights, to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. I stumbled across it by accident online when originally looking at glamping, but as soon as I saw the pictures and descriptions, I knew that I wanted to book.
The pictures don't really do it justice compared to how charming and quaint it is in real life. It is small; and I mean tiny BUT for us, that was part of the appeal.
We were warmly greeted by the owner, Thomas, and shown to the entrance of The Bothy, which is just at the back, up a little incline and just past the hot tub. It was warm and cosy inside with everything that you could possibly need. I would highly recommend staying more than one night in order to get the best out of the accommodation. The surrounding areas and walks are great but it is such a cosy and relaxing place to be that we didn't venture out much!
We were quite organised and had packed a cool bag of food but had taken in to account that there was only a fridge, toaster, microwave and cooking ring to make and prepare food. This was adequate for us and we still managed to have bacon and eggs for breakfast! The nearest shops are in St. Asaph, which is a few miles drive, so best to bring some things with you to nibble on and drink.
The bed is probably one of the comfiest I have slept in for a long time and when it pulls out to full size it is huge. There are plenty of blankets and cushions so comfort isn't an issue. There were magazines and DVD's in the room so plenty to keep you occupied if you want a cosy night in - we were unfortunate that the Easter weather wasn't kind to us so the rain meant that we made the most of the Bothy on both evenings.
The bathroom is stunning and could be very romantic with the freestanding bath and candles. The natural stone walls also added to the charm and rustic atmosphere too.

The only downsides to the property (not that this stopped us from enjoying our stay), was that there is no mirror in the living area so I ended up sat in front of the microwave to dry and straighten my hair, using the microwave door as a make shift mirror. Take a small one with you if you need one. Also, the bath has a shower attachment but nothing to hook it to or hand on, so you have to hold the shower head while you wash - this made washing my hair interesting! Luckily, the floor is tiled so the post shower wet floor wasn't too much of a problem.

We didn't use the hot tub or patio as it was raining but we both felt that the Bothy had more privacy with where the patio area was positioned over the other two accommodations, which we liked.

Thomas was great in being a guide and answering any questions that we have, and he really does care about the customers. He and his wife have clearly put a lot of love in to the Bothy and this shows through them, and the property itself.

If you are considering booking to stay at the Bothy, don't hesitate and book now!

So glad you enjoyed your stay in the Bothy: we think the Bothy somehow says to our guests ‘’I am cute and cosy and comfy, just come and rest a few days’’ – and people do, even those with the most stressful of backgrounds! The Bothy is of course ‘glamping’ so we don’t want to spoil its’ rustic character by overdoing the luxuries. However we have still included a few special touches like the freestanding bath with hand held shower and a gas BBQ big enough to cook for 20! There is of course a big mirror in the bathroom, but we understand the point raised in your review and will look into putting a mirror in the living area too. Do come and stay again soon!

“Perfect getaway ”
Reviewed 7 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The Bothy is so wonderful for a quirky little getaway.

Upon arrival our cottage was beautifully awaiting us to a stunning standard, the fire wood was ready, and we were greeted by Thomas. His hospitality has been 5 star - recommending local restaurants, preparing the fire food, and aiding the stoking of the hot tub!

The cottage has great cooking facilities (indoor and outdoor), a very comfy bed, and a rather luxurious bathroom!

Having the hot tub, overlooking the beautiful Welsh countryside, was the cherry on top! We were lucky with the weather both nights, and managed to get the hot tub up to 45 degrees. Pure bliss.

The location is fab. In close distance to lots of sights, and only an hour drive to Mount Snowdon... which is well worth a walk!

We will definitely be booking to stay at The Bothy in the near future! Great accommodation. Excellent hospitality. Beautiful location! Lush!

Thank you Cae Gywn country cottages,

“Lovely place”
Reviewed 17 March 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We stopped a few nights in the bothy, the weather was cold but that didn't stop us giving trying to heat the hot tub up... Tom the owner showed us how to get it up to temperature and got us plenty of fire wood, it took a fair few hours but it eventually got hot enough to get in, it even managed to stay warm for a morning dip! The views are amazing, and the bothy is great and equipped with everything you need! Thanks for a great stay and we will definitely back - but when the weather is slightly warmer!

This is our first winter for The Bothy so we’re delighted to have so many guests coming to soak in the hot tub and enjoy Cae Gwyn’s stunning winter views….some guests are even having to wipe snow from the tub lid before clambering into the steaming water!
And great to hear the tub was still hot in the morn…an early soak is a very special way to start the day. See you again soon, Thomas & Amanda

“Romantic, relaxing and just perfect!”
Reviewed 7 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

My partner and I visited in early February and was not disappointed, not only was The Bothy beautifully decorated but the owners Thomas and Amanda were super lovely and helpful!
Beautiful building and fantastic attention to detail. The customer service was first class, even when it was blowing a gale and heavily raining Thomas still went out and cut us some wood for the hot tub and assisted with lighting it as I was determined to get in it!! The weather soon cleared and we had a lovely evening sipping prosecco.
When we woke in the morning after my partner had been for his morning run up Offas Dyke we jumped in again as was still hot before breakfast!
We had a lovely stroke to Salusbury Arms for dinner one evening and I would certainly recommend a visit as the food was lovely and customer service was brill!
When leaving Thomas recommended a visit to Beddgelert as this was near where our Zip line adventure was!
Had an incredible, relaxing weekend and hope to be back for another some time soon.
Thank you Thomas and Amanda for a fantastic experience and stay!

Really pleased to hear you enjoyed yourselves. We were pretty impressed by the lengthy early morning run....so much so, we ourselves then did a family walk up to the super cute little church on the hilltop. And nice to see the wild storm didn't get in the way of you having a great time! All the best

“Relaxing Weekend in The Bothy”
Reviewed 3 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We visited in January and are pleased to report the only rival to The Bothy's charms are those of Thomas and Amanda!
Beautiful building set at the top of a valley with amazing views on all sides, plenty to do on a short break (even without a car, as we were) and fantastic attention to detail, customer service and advice from T&A.
The Cae Gwyn site is just off Offa's Dyke so you can get the hot tub warming while you go for a walk (optional stop at the fantastic Salusbury Arms down the lane) and jump in to drink in the views when you return - also worth mentioning, multiple hot tub visits totally feesable as the thing stayed warm for about 18 hours!
Had an incredible, restful weekend and hope to be back for another some time soon.

It is so cosy and the hot tub and garden area is the real cherry on top! Lovely views whilst relaxing in the hot tub. The bathroom is something else too... Thomas and Amanda made us feel really welcome and were so helpful and nice! We have already spoken about coming back in the spring/summer months!
