“Loved our stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014 via mobile

We choose to stay at The Plough Hotel as it was slightly cheaper than others in the area, offered free WIFI and looked to be nicer than the other options. We were not disappointed.

Right from the get go, the staff were fantastic and very helpful. The room on first appearance felt a little on the small side but in reality was a nice size for our needs. The bathroom was a great size and the shower pressure was great!

The location suited us as was near the friends we were visiting. It has two train stations within easy walking distance and a $18 taxi ride to the CBD.

The free WIFi was much appreciated as was the excellent cleaning and the complimentary biscuits. Air con worked perfectly. They also have a laundry which is free to use for guests.

We ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Small suggestions - perhaps they could include a copy of their menu in the rooms. Also safes in the rooms would be a good idea.

We will definitely recommend this place and hope to return one day!

We stayed here last weekend as we had a function in the area. It was fantastic value for money!! We booked the standard room as only needed a place to sleep, and it was spacious, clean and while the shower didn't look like much - it was AMAZING.
Very comfortable bed and very quiet, had a fantastic night's sleep. The free parking was very much appreciated and our car was secure the whole night. I was slightly nervous about the location but I didn't need to be. After hours there is a pin number to unlock the door and also you need to unlock another door to the rooms. Did not hear a peep from other patrons or from outside.

Before going out we ate dinner downstairs and are still talking about the pizza one week later. Superb! And the cocktail I had was not lacking in alcoholic content either - thankyou Plough Hotel! Disappointed we don't live closer so we could come for dinner more often.

The Plough has gone through many reincarnations. And his one seems to be right on track. The new renovations make the old Plough shine. It has been very tastefully redecorated. A mixture of restaurant quality eating and gourmet pizzas Bring your appetite as the servings are large. The beer battered flathead and chips was to die for. Crisp and light batter which was not greasy. Also included was a green salad. fellow dinners enjoyed their pizzas. Reasonably easy to get a park,. good service and hopefully this time it gets the patronage which will ensure it stays around for a while.

Room Tip: Does have accommodation and it too looks like it has been recently upgraded

We stayed here and with a late check-in, we were told to call a mobile number, then to call back numerous times. When we finally arrived, the staff member was kissing someone, which was very unprofessional at work. We were given attitude and told how to get to the room. The room was standard, but very overpriced.

Had read about The Plough having a major renovation, so when visiting Melbourne returned after a 20 year absence. Wow, what a difference! The dark old interior has been opened up and is well lit. The service by staff was exemplary, was as if every need was anticipated. The food was classics cooked perfectly, but not over priced as some inner suburbs can do. Would recommend this to anyone for a meal out.

Room Tip: This is a restaurant frequented by locals. We didn't book, but if more than 2 eating, I'd re...

We booked this hotel because it was a good price and close to our son's apartment and the previous reviews were quite favourable. When we first saw the hotel admittedly we were a bit apprehensive. The downstairs bar and bistro is not open so windows blackened and obviously empty. We received a text message from the accommodation staff with the code for the entrance as we were arriving after hours, and instructions on where the key was etc. When we arrived, what a lovely surprise. The room was absolutely lovely and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, so much so that we slept in the next morning. As suggested by a previous reviewer, we asked for a room away from the main road, but really didn't need too as you couldn't hear the traffic at all from the room...very quiet. Great value and definitely would recommend to others and would definitely stay again. Well done The Plough staff.

I checked this hotel out in March when we knew we'd be arriving from the UK at the same time as our new grandchild, thought then it would 'do'. We arrived to find the upstairs had been completely refurbished and the downstairs bar and bistro should be finished by January. It was room only but when downstairs is done they may do a continental breakfast. It is the only hotel I have ever stayed in where there was enough drawer and hanging space to completely unpack. The ensuite was good and spacious, there was a laundry for guests to use with washer, dryer and ironing facilities and there was a nice sitting room for guests with sofas, tea and coffee, television, books and magazines. It was all clean and tidy and the staff were lovely, really helpful as was the owner. If you are a light sleeper like me you need to ask for a quiet room as the hotel is on the corner of 3 roads, we had one and I slept really well. Middle Footscray station is only a few minutes walk down the road. We stayed twice and would definitely stay again. NB I have rated swimming pool and room service in error - there wasn't any and I can't delete it!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one
