“Great Location”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Borth y Gest is a lovely tiny village near Porthmadog, and we frequently walk along the beach there. We noticed that The Moorings had re-opened and stopped for a coffee and toasted teacake this morning. The staff were so welcoming, and although we only ordered a lite-bite they could not have been more friendly. The tea-cakes were huge, and with REAL BUTTER! and the coffee great as well. We had a look at their evening menu, which looked great, so will certainly be booking a table there soon. It's an ideal location, and we were lucky that the weather was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the fantastic sea view, but the inside also looked lovely and cosy, and I'm sure it will be great in the winter. The new proprietors I believe all met when they worked together in Portmeirion, and are passionate about serving good locally sourced food when possible, and I'm sure that they will make a great success of their new venture.

“A delightful spot”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We were lucky enough to be in Borth-y-Gest on a perfect summer day(19th June 2014).After walking along the cliff path and admiring the wonderful views we felt like a spot of lunch The Moorings looked so welcoming with people sitting out on the terrace.Unfortunately all the outside tables were taken but we found a table inside with a view.We ordered Welsh Rarebit which was served on a wooden board with a salad garnish and crisps. The helpings were generous and very tasty. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the restaurant was clean and tidy....including the loo! We will return to Moorings when we next visit North Wales .

“So disappointing”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Came here for Sunday lunch when new management had just taken over, we had to wait a long time to be served and did not receive a very good welcome. We were asked how we would like our beef and requested rare but came well done, food was OK and we wanted to give them a chance to get settled in
Visited for dinner and food was poor, service started off ok but we had to wait 40 mins for starter and 1 hour and half for main. The quality is just not there, I would not mind waiting for well prepared food but this was terrible
I hope they manage to improve on waiting time and food quality so they can succeed, it is a lovely spot but I will not be returning

“something to satisfy everyone.new management, same great food.”
Reviewed 15 June 2014 via mobile

everything we saw come out of the kitchen looked so fresh and delicious.
We were a mixed age group but lots of choice for all and there was a very friendly children's menu which delivered real food , not the mega processed stuff so many places churn out.The seafood platter looked amazing and my gammon egg and chips with griddled fresh pineapple was delicious. The roast dinner got a big thumbs up and the chicken caesar salad had a huge amount of chicken breast in it . indulgent puddings and super views an outright winner :-)
