An ideal place to stay if visiting Snowdonia for a short break or much more. On the outskirts of Porthmadog, the area is very peaceful with some great walks along the coast.
The three bedrooms are fine, the downstairs accommodation works well with a large kitchen and lounge/diner. One bedroom has an ensuite which is a tad quirky in its layout, with the shower not enclosed. Not a major issue though.
This is a great cottage for a couple or a family to enjoy the beautiful beaches and towns of this part of North Wales. The cottage is positioned on the hillside above the harbour and has fantastic views from the decking in the rear garden, and the master bedroom.
The cottage was nice and clean, and the kitchen was well equipped.
The on-street parking was never a problem, even over the busy bank-holiday weekend.
The rear garden was very nice, and the picnic bench on the decking was great for eating outside with the nice weather we had.
The beach was an easy walk from the cottage along the coastal path.
There are no shops in Borth-y-Gest, but there are supermarkets in Porthmadog which is about 5 mins in the car, alternatively there is a nice walk to Porthmadog along the coastal path past the boatyard.
I would recommend this cottage to anyone.
Bort y gest lovely village stuck in time. Cottage is in good position in quiet street
With beautiful views to the rear enjoyed from the decking in the garden. Lovely various walks.very popular with walkers.
Plenty of shops and eating facilities in Porthmadog

Fabulous, the bay ,snow capped mountains, sun rise, who needs TV..Shops? ,close enough to walk to portmadoc but easier to drive, close by?visited port merrion, caenarvon, and fabulous day at betsycoed fforest coaster,.a wonderful 4 days for grandparents and grandchildren.
Borth-y-Gest is a delightful place - quiet, secluded, lovely cafe on the front, great views across the bay to Snowdonia, but only a short walk away from Porthmadog with its shops, banks, cafes etc, and a very good chippy. There are also lots of other towns, villages and places of interest within very easy reach. Maweni cottage was easy to find (we left the instructions at home!) and was perfect for our needs. It is well equipped, homely, comfortable, and clean. It's a bit overlooked at the front but that didn't matter as we spent much of our time at the cottage in the garden sipping G & Ts enjoying the magnificent views. On arrival one of our party who is from Rome exclaimed that we could not have found a better place anywhere! Coming from a Roman that's saying something!
Calm home with amazing views with coastal walks right on its doorstep. The cottage was extremely well equipped, warm and inviting. The village was peaceful and extremely friendly, the nearest town was within walking distance and had everything you needed. The village and town have amazing scenery, good road access to the rest of Snowdon and good public transport links unfortunately the mountain train does not run in February so we will visit again and would definitely stay at the cottage next time.
Maweni is the perfect home from home, if home was a fabulously formed, well equipped cottage with beautiful watery views. A wonderfully located base to explore and I hope to return soon.
