This hotel is run by 4 generations of the Marrani family and they take hospitality seriously. Rooms are neat and tidy, and in different buildings spread over an sizable area. There is a swimming pool that is only open during the summer months. It is open to the general public, and a good place to meet the local people.
The location is a peaceful village high in the Mugello hills. It's a little cooler here than in Florence below, but the city can easily be reached with a direct train from Ronta. The Mugello area is great for cyclists and motorcyclists.
Breakfast is fairly extensive by Italian standards, and dinner is excellent. There are the traditional 4 courses of antipasta, pasta, carne and dolce. No choice (though they are happy to accommodate special diets) just 4 courses made with quality ingredients and Tuscan county charm.
This hotel is large but it does not really feel like it. It receives many coach groups who come late and leave early...Leaving the hotel a surprisingly intimate place for the more permanent guests.
I really enjoyed the heartfelt kindness of the staff, and I hope to be back here some day.More
