El Remanso is a great spot to get away and relax. The scenery is beautiful and the house has everything you could ever need to have a comfortable stay. I spent days swimming, whale watching and hiking. It was a phenomenal trip and I plan to go back next summer. Jennifer and Lee, the hosts, are super nice and helpful. You should definitely visit Saboga and stay at El Remanso.
A friend of mine suggested I visit the Pearl Islands. She had been to Contadora and Saboga and loved both. She went on about how beautiful and serene Saboga was and assured me that I would love it. She was so right.
I received a "thank you for booking" email that was full of very helpful information and the hosts continued to stay in contact with me up until my husband and I arrived. Their emails turned out to be invaluable. They included links to book activities, ferry information, grocery shopping, what to pack and much more. They picked us up at the dock and graciously showed us around the island. I cannot say enough about how wonderful and accommodating the hosts were.
The island itself is an absolute paradise. The natural beauty is incredible. You can go days without seeing another human. If you enjoy solitude and can spend your days staring at the ocean and listening to waves, this is the place for you. It is safe to walk anywhere on the island. The little village is quaint and the church from the 1600s is picturesque atop a hill beside the sea. You can snorkel and swim in the crystal clear water and see lots of colorful fish and coral.
El Remanso is a beautiful, well-equipped property. The views are stellar and you can watch whales from almost anywhere on the property. Our apartment had a lovely patio with outdoor furniture and the inside was cozy and had everything we needed. The kitchen is modern and easy to use. I have stayed in many Airbnds but this was my favorite,
If you want to have an outing from Saboga, you can take a panga over to Isla Contadora and enjoy drink in one of the few bars or restaurants. We scuba dove from a shop on Contadora and it was great.
If you want a wild, crazy resort full of activities and lots of people, this is not the place for you. However, if you want a peaceful spot to get away from the rat race, Saboga is perfect and El Remanso is perfect.
From arrival upon departure spent 3 lovely days on Saboga Island.
Welcomed by our host, we discovered the the venue, rented one of the studios (with a kitchenette) for our children and a room for us, suited perfectly our needs.
The direct access to the beach, snorkeling, sailing, a tour of the island with our host were the perfect activities for a laid-back, quality family time WE.
Hope to visit soon again!
Clean and complete furnished room for 4 adults. Sofa bed excellent for 2 people.
Nice view. Warm attention from Jennifer ready to let you know the village and other points of view on Pacific ocean.
El Remanso on Isla Saboga is one of Panama’s best kept secrets! If you are looking for an extremely quiet and secluded place to totally relax in paradise, look no further. Lee and Jennifer will tend to all of your needs on the island, from meeting you at the dock, giving you a tour of the island, making sure you have everything you need, and then leaving you to your vacation but being completely available if you need anything. The facilities are very well-appointed. The beach is literally down the steps from the house. You can choose long daily walks and snorkeling, or just get comfortable in a chair with a good book on the beach all day. There really are no structured activities for you on this island, so come prepared to entertain yourselves, which is exactly what we were looking for! The benefit is that on any given day we could choose from any number of deserted beaches to hang out on. There is only one restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch so you’ll need to bring your own food for dinners. The kitchens in El Remanso make that very easy. I can’t say enough about how relaxing our stay on Isla Saboga was.
Unspoilt but comfortable. There are very few places that can boast of that. In Jennifer and Lee's House you have all the facilities of an impressive house few steps away from paradise beaches where rarely you are going to find someone else. The Island is marvellous, the spot unsurpassable, and the attention and hospitality of Jennifer and Lee the BEST!
We will deffinetly become frequents of this place!
We stayed here for three nights this July and had one room in the main house as well as a separate apartment in a different building for our parents. They are in their 80s and had no problem getting around at all. Lee and Jenifer were perfect hosts - before and during our stay - and if it weren't for the small town on the other side of the island, that just wasn't easy to navigate with regards to buying food, it would have been heaven. [We do speak the language and are not shy. But they simply did not have much to buy to begin with. So it is highly recommended you bring at least a little food for your dinners and breakfast!]
The beachclub on the "house beach" is excellent, has great food for lunch time and we were mostly by ourselves throughout our stay.
Private island feeling with plenty to do and see like whalewatching, picking mangos, going for a drive through the lush island and endless beach walks...
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and are glad to have made the trip.
Since we had our parents with us it might be good to know, that this island (as opposed to Contadora) has a proper pier for the ferry to land and most everything is accessible via walkways without stairs.
Thanks again Lee and Jenifer! A real pleasure to meet you!
