My wife and daughter and I have been coming to the Fanad Peninsula in Donegal for many years now and we sometimes stop at Ramelton for an ice cream and a lotto ticket but we always stop at the Curlew for the best coffee in Donegal and the delicious food Nuala and Packie serve up-home made, home grown, freshly caught-what is there to criticise? Nothing! It's perfect! We had the lobster salad on Sunday last as a treat and it was OMG out of this world. The lobster was freshly caught, the wheaten bread was home-baked, the salad was home grown and all seved with fresh ice cold water from the well at the back of the garden.
Then we went nuts and had the Lemon Drizzle cake to follow.Orgasmic!!

The Curlew is a real find! We have been going there for 2-3 years nearly every weekend for either Saturday or Sunday lunch. We are seafood lovers and adore the crab and lobster caught by Packie and served up beautifully by his wife Nuala. The ham and chicken are home cooked too and much of the food is organic. It's a good selection and the rhubarb tart and lemon drizzle cake are to die for-sooo good!
The prices are great- more than reasonable-12 euro for a half lobster salad is hard to beat!
There is a warm friendly atmosphere in 'The Curlew' with open fires and they also sell some lovely crafts and jewelry. The house is set in a lovely garden just off the road- great to lunch outside on a warm day.
The down side is they close around 5 pm but evening dinner can be pre-arranged with Nuala for parties of 6 or more.We have had a few nights there with family and friends for intimate gatherings. She will cook french or Italian cuisine also and our nights there have been magic.
It's good to have such high quality local produce-they only use the best ingredients. We highly recommend. Enjoy!

What a fantastic little cafe, quaint with style and a character one rarley finds. We have visting Curlew four or five times and each time is gets better. Its located on the way to some of the worlds best beach at Port Salon about 12 km away. The owner are great and unique. Pakis crap and lobster are freshly caught 20 kms away. The menu is simple but great and I am not sure which is better the Apple or Rubarb Tart both fantastic. Make sure you stop especially is cysling as the tart will get your home!
