We stayed for 1 night during the Smallholders Fair at Builth. We were made to feel most welcome . The room was clean , comfortable and quiet!
We had a satisfying ,tasty breakfast.
Mr. and Mrs . Harley as well as the children were courteous , chatty and very pleasant.
Would definately stay again if accommodation was available.

I was training for a 10 peak challenge and planned a trip to Brecon and stayed at Gaer Farm.
Philip was very welcoming and the rooms were pleasant, comfortable and their sheep dog puppy was a welcome addition to the group!
Breakfast was lovely, home cooked and they provided fully organic options.
Philip took us on a tour of his property and detailed the hand built stone wall built by philip himself!

I would and have recommended this to my friends and family.

I wish I had read the other reviews before booking. I agree that they must run the B&B out of necessity, cause you do feel as if you are in the way. There was no TV or hairdryer in the bedroom. The bathroom was a bit grubby, the floorboards were very noisy, and there was clutter everywhere. The single track road leading to the farm seemed to go on for ever.

Good points - comfy bed and tasty breakfast.

Overpriced.

I have never had such an unwelcome reception ever on going to a B&B. Such a shame because the place is beautiful and the rooms have been done up well - but the hostility is scary. I wish I'd seen the previous review before booking. Unfortunately (because the setting is so beautiful) I'd never go here again. It feels as if the owner hates people and presumably only does the b&b out of necessity. We all felt terrified to ask for anything as the response was so unpredictable. Having put us in our place, Patricia, the owner, did give us a lift to the pub and pick us up too which was very good of her, but we were so nervous by then, we would have preferred to go elsewhere if we could have done. We felt like intruders.

In response to this review, I remember the guests and the stay in question.
I would like to respond by staying that the hostility came from the gentlemen in the party, after being told that he could not use the small kitchenette in the disabled room to cater for the 3 adults and 2 teenagers in the party for their evening meal. As the kitchenette was only designed to be able to cater for 2 adults not the 5 people as the only cooking equipment is a microwave and a 2 ring electrical plug in hob.
After being told this the gentleman, who was barefooted, processed to slam the lounge door and then the front door and processed to the ground floor room.
We do advertise that we can provide an evening meal with prior arrangement, which could have been arranged for this party. To have saved the need to have to go out after arriving to have an evening meal, as their only mode of transport was mountain bikes.

We used this so-called B&B for one night in the midst of a 3-week trip. It was the only place I wouldn’t recommend at all.

The owner, Patricia, was exceedingly unfriendly. We introduced ourselves, but she didn’t introduce herself and barely acknowledged we were there. She told us she turned on the heat in our 2 rooms, and when we called her because we nearly froze to death, she accused us of turning it off. We felt as though we had to walk on eggshells in this place, which is the owner’s home.

The rooms were dusty and had spider webs (complete with spiders!) in the corners. In the bathroom we were supplied with a used bar of soap. The shower immediately overheated and almost scalded one member of our group – the rest chose to go without.

Because of the unfriendly atmosphere, we ate cereal for breakfast so we could escape as soon as possible.

If you’re in dire need of a place to stay in Llandrindod Wells, you’d be better off sleeping in your car on the side of the road.
