We wanted somewhere not too posh to eat near Builth and having read other reviews made our way to the Red Lion - what a gem. A proper pub with good hand pulled ale , Welsh Gin & Whisky on offer. We had the Cawl, Welsh Lamb chops and a hearty Welsh mixed grill - sadly we couldn't do a pudding justice. The food was superb - very tasty and meat all cooked to perfection. Alan is a super host and what a nice change to find a good old fashioned pub serving great ale and great food. We will be back......

We were travelling home to Swansea after a weekend in Chester and had Sunday lunch here. There was a choice of roast beef or lamb which was £8.50 and if you had dessert too it was £10.95. There was also a menu of other pub meals available. Dessert alone was £4.50. Kids could have a roast or else fish fingers or chicken nuggets chips and beans - there was also a kids dessert menu of ice cream in vanilla strawberry or chocolate or a penguin or monster! Our roasts came with very generous portions of meat, roast and boiled potatoes, swede, cabbage and carrots with gravy. Desserts included crumble, chocolate junkyard, bread & butter pudding or rice pudding. Service was friendly and welcoming - we would definitely return if making a similar trip again.

A group of us from Llandudno Camera Club have been coming here for the last 5 years and staying for 2 nights - due to go again in June 2014. What can I say? We have never been disappointed with the quality of service from John, his wife and all the staff, great food, comfortable, clean rooms and a great all round atmosphere.

The Red Lion at Llanfihangel-Nant-Melan in Radnorshire has a good reputation locally - it was recommended independently by a few local residents and businesses and having eaten there now twice in the last month or so I can concur with the view that it delivers - it's a traditional wayside country inn that offers warm hospitality, good prompt service and decent pub food at reasonable prices. The kitchen do their job well, the landlord is friendly and engaging and his staff are pro's. Ideal for a pie and a pint. They seem to do 'food all day' - just what I would hope for from an isolated pub. Loo's clean, pool table, plenty of choice of tables, good menu, range of drinks and coffee. Desserts good too.

Stopped on way to return son to Aber Uni. Two of us had Steak and Ale Pie and the other Fish Pie About £8 each. Fish Pie was to die for. Brilliant. Steak and Ale good too. Vegetables correctly cooked not mush and not rock hard. We will stop there again.
