Had an evening meal with three friends. The service throughout the meal was excellent with friendly, efficient staff. Although it was busy we never felt rushed or that we were having to wait too long for food or drinks. Great choice of food . We all enjoyed our meals. Myself and two friends had the burger which was one of the tastiest we had ever eaten. Desserts were Eton Mess and Frangipani flan which were both delicious. This is restaurent level food and service with the informal , relaxing atmosphere you expect from a village pub. Definitely recommend .

Visited with friends for a day in the beer garden.

Great outdoor space with a charming little stream. The outdoor pizza oven was a good lunch, and the lemon sorbet made for a great desert. Really worth a visit.

We visited The Kings Arms on a couple of occasions whilst camping at the Portesham Diary Farm. It offers a potentially great garden which providing fine weather (which we were lucky enough to enjoy), would be a great place to sit and and enjoy a cold cider.
The ciders on offer were Thatchers Gold & Aspell, both tasty drops, at about a price you would expect from the only pub in the village, we have certainly paid more at other more touristy establishments.
The venue itself is lovely and the staff were very friendly, although definitely more of a place to eat than drink. If the weather had not been good enough to sit in the garden I think we would have struggled to have found a table inside due to diners and reserved tables for expected diners (we got the impression that if we were not prepared to order food, then we would not be welcome to sit inside unless seated at the bar).
On our second visit we tried a couple of the 'Wood Fired Pizzas' available from their garden menu (the Sunday roast was sold out). My husband enjoyed his and mine was satisfactory, I think it was the flatbread base I wasn't over keen on, a personal opinion and not a reflection of the food quality. They also offer the pizzas as takeaway, and what you are unable to manage can be boxed should you feel the need.
For us the Kings Arms was the only handy venue within walking distance for a couple of drinks, and if there had been an alternative option we would have certainly tried it.
They are family friendly and there were plenty of little ones running around noisily (parents inside enjoying their evening), which is great if you have children. If not it can ruin the peaceful setting and enjoyment on a summers evening, hence the 'potentially great garden'.
That said if you are staying in or around Portesham I would certainly recommend a visit, that way you can decide for yourself if it is for you or as the case maybe.... Not.

We were staying in Portesham on holiday and so it only seemed right that we should go to the Kings Arms for dinner and we were not disappointed. Our first visit was on a Wednesday evening and we were able to get a table, our second visit was on Friday and we had booked a table and glad we did as it filled up very quickly. The choice of food was good, even for our somewhat picky teenagers. They have a pizza menu which is superb.
Overall the food was cooked to a very high standard and was always tasty. I found the price very similar to other establishments in the area. The decor and atmosphere is very welcoming.
If I had any negative comment it would be that at times the service was a bit disjointed. When we ordered drinks during the meal, they took a while to arrive meaning we ended up with food and nothing to drink. It did not spoil our enjoyment of the meal.
Highly recommended and will go again if in the area.

Nice pub in a gorgeous location. Beer garden catches the sun all day and has a little stream running through it. Welcoming staff, nice interior, and a good selection of wines.
