“Modern hotel, superb restaurant.”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

The hotel sits above the beach with great views out to the Sept Isles and the Granite Rose Coast. Very modern, all black and white decoration, no wall art (pictures), just black and silver/chrome fixtures on white walls. Top class friendly service, nice spotless rooms, very well appointed. The sea view rooms have unrestricted panoramic views of the ocean and beach.
One small negative, seemingly no air conditioning in the bedrooms (at least I could not find it), however the windows open and the sea breeze cools the room well.
The hotel restaurant is superb, High French service, Christophle, Baccarat and Limoges table settings. The one Michelin star chef attends the tables and oversees each course. Great food (rarely have I eaten better), attentive service, just about as good as it gets. The view from the restaurant is excellent, try to book a window table for the best views, but even inner tables have good views. Overall a great experience, well worth the price. A special occassion hotel.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms a must, great views. Children welcome, their own menu choices in the restaurant. Top...

The hotel is nice and people are friendly enough - except in the spa where we were totally ignored and found staff to be quite surly.

The hotel rooms are very nice with free mini bar. Our major complaint is that the rooms are far too hot even when it is relatively cool outside as it does not have air con. I am not sure why for a supposed 5* hotel. The rooms have had ceiling fans installed (very low down so watch your head/arms) however we still found it far too hot to be able to sleep comfortably even with window open. Personally we would rather stay in a 3* hotel with air con and have a decent night sleep in the spring/summer/autumn months.

Nice restaurant with excellent dinner and breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the building. There is no A/C so only book if is winter or you like...

Spent a weekend at L'Agapa at end of October as a treat for self and wife before we go into hospital in November.
Arrived late but everyone was welcoming and room facing sea excellent.
Room a tinse tiny but everything top class as one would expect for a five star hotel.
Had paid for breakfasts and they were wonderful and the staff friendly (as i speak very little French they were so accommodating and maitre d' Phillipe, Gallic charm personified.
Had a problem with the safe (locked myself out) and fixed in minutes.
Pushed out the boat for dinner - me a veggie and my wife on a very restrivcted diet, but again staff and chef so helpful.
I really would recommend this hotel and we intend to return next year when we are bothy rercovered from our ops.
The area around the hotel was good for walking and the shops a temptation (and again the locals very firnedly)

Room Tip: Pay for breakfasts and room upgrade, well worth the extra cost

L'Agapa in Perros-Guirec is a near perfection 5* hotel. It already started at our arrival: we got an upgrade from our reserved room in La Désirade (that's a separate building) to the Altitude Suite in the main building, where a couple of products from the Nuxe Spa and half a bottle of champagne were waiting for us. The Altitude Suite is on the 4th floor under the roof, so here and there you have to be careful with your head if you're taller than - say - 1m70. But that's compensated with a lot of luxury and space: a Panasonic beamer based video installation with dvd player, a Playstation 3 with 3 remotes, beautiful all glass Waterfall Victoria Evo 500W speakers, a gorgious view over the sea, the Trestraou beach and surroundings right from your seat in the salon (unfortunately, this view gets cut in half when you lower the 2,4m projection screen for the beamer - they should have inversed the position of the projector and the screen), etc...
There are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, and another with two single beds. Both have large screen televisions with a Logitech remote, and their own bathroom. One has a central tub, a walk-in shower and two windows facing the sea and the beach, the other only the shower.
There's free WiFi, but the signal level was too low to be useful. A simple call to the reception was enough to get us an amplifier that managed to tilt the level to an acceptable one (although still not enough for streaming video, e.g.).
And, ofcourse, there's the Michelin starred Belouga restaurant with the wonderful sea view from your table. What it delivers at noon or in the evenings is for my foodblog (sterrenjacht.wordpress.com), and for those who understand Dutch...
In the mornings it also serves as breakfast restaurant, and here's some room for improvement: during our 5 days stay there was hardly any variation: the same three cheeses, the same 4 types of meat (3 ham variations and 1 salami), the same 3 fresh fruits (pineapple, grapefruit and melon). And having eggs (in a scrambled or whatever way) shouldn't be an extra for which you have to pay in a 5* hotel.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about this property. The hotel is nice, some rooms have a wonderful sea view, the service is good and the team is very professional and helpful. We’ve stayed there in August, it was a last minute trip, thus we only managed to get one twin room via Expedia for 7 nights. We travelled with our grown-up daughter and the hotel’s reservation team made a huge effort in accommodating us. As a result we managed to inspect a number of rooms in the hotel, because our daughter had to change room every day. Below are the ones, I feel need to be mentioned:

#7 in the main building (twin room on the ground floor facing the garden) – NEVER. Turned out to be one of the disabled rooms, with roll-in shower (tiny space and water everywhere). At nights expect to be part of “flush toilet party” with marvelous sewerage pipe system music that will keep you awake. Once the party is over around 1am, water from the garden rotor sprinkler will periodically knock on your window. All this is yours for 240 euros per night

#72 at La Desirade (double room + extra bed, sea view) - BEST room we had during the whole period, nice and quiet with a perfect sea view, Krups Nespresso coffeemaker, better quality bathrobes and Nuxe toiletries. Still, the hair dryer was out of order… >500 euros with extra bed

#80 at L'Eden Roc (villa, 1st floor) – a lot of space, master’s bedroom with en-suite facilities, reception area, extra twin beds, etc etc. And the noisy!!! ventilation system that cannot be disabled. We were meant to spend 3 nights there, but I felt that I had enough and we checked out the next day. 500 euros for sleepless night

Pool is ok, wonderful view from the terrace. Good breakfast, but no hot meals. Poor wifi coverage. 131 steps to the street that leads to the beach and restaurants.

Overall, I would say, my experience was dissatisfactory - I hardly slept at nights and on top of it, my Ipad was stolen when we had our luggage moved from one room to another.

Go there only if you get a confirmation for a room on upper floors in the main building or at La Desirade (garden or sea view, if you have stretched budget). Otherwise – try something else.

Dear Madam,

As we exchanged with your husband since then by mail, we would like to accurate a point:
Before departure it was explained to the front desk that an I-Pad was left in the room 80 and where it was, our receptionist directly called the executive housekeeper who checked herself but didn’t find anything. You had this information before leaving the hotel. She also mentioned we would contact you if finally we found it by cleaning the room, but at any time it was mentioned “stolen”.

We are sorry not being able to find out where the I-Pad is and remain at your disposal if necessary.

Best Regards,

Anne le Morvan

The staff is first rate, the location overlooking the bay wonderful, and to top it off this is a beautiful building that blends style and functionality. We liked everything about this place from the ability to open the curtains from the bed with touch a switch in the morning and be greeted with a wonderful view of the bay to the followed by a great breakfast in another room with a view. The pool was small but lovely and the gym first rate - don't miss the sauna.

The staff were gracious and full of useful information about the area. Their English ranged from very good to fair and we were always made to feel welcome.

Our room was a good size while the bathroom was large with separate shower and a large tub. Towels, sheets, robes - all were first rate. We had neighbors but never heard anything at night and slept as well as anywhere on our trip. The furnishings, the elevators, all have style and everything worked perfectly. The town is lovely as is this part of the coast and I can't imagine t you will find a better hotel.

Room Tip: In this case spend the extra for a room with a view as it is pretty spectacular.

Lacking outdoor space to chill out.
Lacking music connectivity in room.
Location. Service, and everything else is top. Reception girls are super nice, restaurant staff are very good.
Food is very good. I would recommend it.
