On arrival one of our 'non smoking' connecting rooms had just been smoked in by the previous occupant. They had put the cot in that one!

We arrived in the early afternoon and our room was not ready as they were still cleaning it and vacuuming. While we were waiting for ten to fifteen minutes our three children (10,8,2) were playing in the hall at the end of the corridor - it had a small table with lego provided for that purpose.

Once our room was ready we made our way in immediately and had been in there only ten minutes when the lady from reception knocked on our door with a complaint about the noise our children were making. She had just checked us in so she knew we were English, and she spoke to us in perfect English at reception - now she had a complaint she spoke only in French, as clearly the complainant was French and she was more worried about appeasing them than allowing us to have an undisturbed rest following six hours of non-stop driving in the morning.

I found this behaviour unbearably rude but fortunately I understood what she said - one of our 'neighbours' was trying to 'sleep' - well it was early afternoon and they had just been vacuuming on our floor for who knows how long, but obviously some English children were much more annoying and louder than a 100db vacuum.

We left the hotel for the afternoon, returning only for dinner as we have a 2 year old and could not eat too far from his cot. From the moment we arrived at dinner the service was awful. The staff were unfriendly, totally inefficient and it appeared that they could not care less about us. The food was very poorly prepared, overcooked, and portions were small making it also overpriced (even if it was good quality). Having eaten food from an identical menu at the Novotel Troyes the previous week, it was possible for us to make a comparison - it neither tasted the same nor looked the same.

Breakfast was even worse than dinner, the service was non-existent. we were taken to a table with only three chairs and left there to sort ourselves out. The cooked breakfast was unrecognisable with poor quality sausage and bacon and mushroom etc.

I do not remember ever seeing/eating food as bad in all my trips to France in the last 30 years.

Novotel should fire all the staff there and start again.

We are new to Novotels and have to say this one impressed. This one night stay was booked as we were driving from UK to Spain. Lots of space to park in the car park and very easy to find from the main motorway. Check-in was the fastest ever - I think about 30 seconds to say my name to get the key and be directed to room. Reception staff member was super friendly and spoke excellent English. The room itself was fantastic, clean and spacious and the bed as comfy as you will get anywhere. The separate toilet/shower area gets a bit of getting used to but, hey ho, when in France....
We also ate at the restaurant and were impressed by the friendliness of the staff there. Food was ok and typically French and touristy. Nice though.
After returing to bed we had a great peaceful night on the 2nd comfiest bed on the planet.
Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and apart from the "boil your own egg" experience, was enjoyed with the gallon of coffee the staff provide you with.
Checkout was slightly slower than check-in by about 30 seconds!
All in all a great stay and one hotel that would be highly recommended for travellers using the nearby motorway. We actually cannot wait to return here, next time we travel to Spain.

En route from Calais to Switzerland we stopped here for one night. The hotel is very close to the motorway and extremely easy to find. The rooms are all styled for families with a sofabed, bathroom with shower and bath with shower fitting and a separate toilet away from the sleeping area. There is tea and coffee making facilities and a minibar fridge that is lockable (keeps the kids away from the expensive goodies). Pool with terrace linked to bar and restaurant and large lawned area is wonderful after a long hot drive. There are video games, a small pool table and internet access in lobby area to entertain the kids. Staff friendly and helpful - speak perfect English. Rooms quiet but request a ground floor room if necessary as there is no lift. Although it wasn't the cheapest option, we would definitely stay here again.

I have been staying at Reims Novotel on route to skiing or other holidays for over ten years. All hotels have their ups and downs but they have really got this one working well. The rooms have all been upgraded now and we had an excellent family stay this year with two interconnecting rooms - 50% discount for the second room. Meal was fine - I always have an omelette or a salad and the breakfast is, as ever in Novotels, ample. We used the pool this time as well as we stayed the full morning until 12.00 midday as is permissable. The place has also attracted the McLaren F1 team, two of who's trucks were discretely in the car park overnight (they left early though). Convenient, plenty of willing staff, a mirrored lounge which amused the kids, plenty for the children to do, free internet in reception, etc etc..top travel hotel.

Not a lot to add to previous reports. My wife and I used the hotel for an overnight stay on our way to Austria.Perfectly good room-clean,modern and well equipped.Surprisingly good meal on a sunday night.Nice bar.Efficient friendly staff.Only downside is the surroundings but having said that it is ideally placed for hopping on and off the autoroute.
