“Hotter Than A Sauna”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Stayed at Qualys as part of a large group on a battlefield tour. Our room were small but adequate although you had the choice of either closing the blind which still allowed light to pour in or close the blind and bring down the outside shutter which made the room seem very enclosed. My main gripe was no air conditioning and as we stayed at Qualy's on the two hottest nights of the year the rooms were stifling and sleeping was impossible even although we were out on the battlefields for 11 hours of the day.
Staff were ok but I did wait 7/8 minutes to be acknowledged as I was standing at reception, breakfast was reasonable.
OK for a stopover as long as the weather is cool.
P.S. No outside sitting area which may have helped in the heat.

Room Tip: The only tip I can offer is if its hot take a fan.

Nice room, with very comfy bed. Tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge with bottles of water. Breakfast was buffet style with cereals, juices, croissants, rolls etc. very quiet room despite being on ground floor.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to be ok from comments of fellow travellers.

We were only passing through on a trip to the French Alps from UK, stopping in Reims overnight. Now called the Qualys Hotel, this place is literally just off the motorway and served perfectly for an overnight stop. The room was small and basic but clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. The breakfast buffet was OK, with a reasonable choice of pastries, yoghurt etc, but overpriced at 10 EUR per person. There is a big supermarket very close by to grab some provisions and fill up with fuel, but the supermarket itself wasn't open when we set off at 06.30 am.

Stayed for an overnight stop on the way back from Italy, the name has now been changed to Qualys Hotel. The room was ok about adequate for one night clean with good bed and shower. There were no facilities for food in the evening other than a McDonnalds near by, so if you want any real food eat before you get there. Breakfast is in the reception/bar/lounge, we were given a time of 7am but by the time we got there there was nothing left.
Would I stay again, not when there are hotels like the Ibis and Holiday Inn near by.

This small hotel has recently become the Qualys Hotel, although the entrance mat is still branded as the Tip Top Hotel.

We were booked in for a one night transit stay as part of a large party. The welcome was efficient and we were allocated a room on the ground floor. The very clean room was comparatively small and had a small shower room with hand wash basin. When closed, the external blinds still permitted residual external light into the room. The beds were unusually firm

We were advised in advance that this hotel did not have a restaurant, although drinks could be obtained from the receptionist. The reception area also included a number of chairs and tables. The standard of the buffet breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. It was absolutely excellent in range and quality of food on offer.

The reception personnel appeared to be multi functional, dealing with all aspects e.g. reception, bar, breakfast and luggage etc., and should be commended for this.

This hotel provides a good basic standard of facilities and service

This is a pleasant hotel but does not have a kitchen so no restaurant. Breakfast was served in the lounge and was somewhat lacking. The bar only had small bottles of beer, wine and soft drinks. The staff were quite pleasant and the hotel was generally clean.

The hotel is located in a handy location to public transport and the motorway and our room was lovely and modern and the bed very comfortable. We also found the staff helpful and friendly. However, as we are travelling for six months, much of our travel plans are made using the internet for accommodation, ferry bookings and sight-seeing. With this in mind we always book accommodation that includes free wifi. Unfortunately the wifi offered in this hotel is substandard at best.We needed to book a ferry from Calais to Dover and because the internet wouldn't work at the hotel on either our laptop or our two phones we weren't able to make the booking until the next day, which was the day we needed to sail. This was done at the McDonalds nearby. In this time the prices of the sailings went from 45 pounds to 100 pounds. We were told it was because so many people were using the wifi at the same time. Maybe the internet facilities need to be upgraded to cope with the demand if they are going to offer this service.
