Nice and proper hotel which does not belong to any chain. The very hearty welcome from the owner was absolutely unique experience in France. The hotel itself is rather basic (though with air-conditioning!), but it is inexpensive and extremely good situated for visiting the Dordogne valley. If you are planning to explore the region, Souillac is the perfect place to stay.

The hotel is in the centre of Souillac and is in an ideal spot for touring and sight seeing in the area (there is plenty to see and do). The greeting by the reception staff is good and they are very chatty and helpful, (the lady on the phone is a little less than helpful and tuts so you could be put off staying there). The bedrooms are adequate and the bathrooms good, the mattresses are however non too comfortable, very efficient air conditioning. The breakfast is very good, there are adequate places in Souillac to go out to eat.

We arrived late in Souillac with no booking, but were helped by people in the wifi cafe on Bvd Louis Jean Malvy to find the Promenade just down the road. We were greeted warmly at reception and given the last double room. The manager, Didier, could not have been more helpful in everything, and specifically in stowing our bikes securely in the garage.
Our room was very small, but comfortable with a nice ensuite. There was a generous continental breakfast in the airy, spacious and charming dining room, with plenty of fruit, eggs, cheese and so on as well as the usual croissants etc.
Unfortunately our room faced onto the boulevarde and square where the annual summer solstice music festival was in full belt, and it was noisy till midnight. However I would say for 364 days a year there would be no problems. We really enjoyed our visit in this reasonably budget hotel, partly because it was comfortable, but mainly because of the friendly staff.

This was a very nice old school French hotel with a few modern ammenities. They had blistering air condition, an elevator and free internet. That's enough for me. The staff was EXTREMELY accommodating.

firstly this hotel has air-conditioning which really helps in August. Secondly the owner is the most welcoming man, who uses the word lovely frequently in the loveliest way. Although the rooms are fairly basic, they are immaculately clean, the beds are comfortable, the rooms roomy and all in all I did not expect such a good experience for such a reasonable price in mid-season. Thumbs up!
