“Romantic and cosy”
Reviewed 30 May 2013

This was an excellent stay, the decor and detail in every corner of this hotel is the first thing that jumps to your eyes, this gorgeous 1800s home provides all the charm of Provençal style taking you back to the France of the time without taking away any of the comfort at all, instead it takes you to a world of romance and beauty all together with the smells of lavender and amazing Provençal cuisine. The very charming terrace is surrounded by roof tiles and vines....The staff is simply one of the best I have dealt with in France, they made our very short stay a very comfortable one, not easy to do in such a short time. My only regret... not having the time to stay long enough to take advantage of the amazing looking spa. Will be back...

Room Tip: The parking in this hotel is perfect, your car is safe and in the shade. Easy access and lots of par...

We decided to go join some friends in St-Tropez at the drop of a dime and looked up a hotel that would make an easy driving break between Geneva and the Mediterranean. What first made me look at this hotel was the number of "stars" and the reviews, mixed with the fact that entry level rooms were less than 200 euros.

We booked via booking dot com, which I will not do next time, the hotel's website can handle directly your booking and have "specials" not listed on other websites (room with some spa treatments for example).

We got there late, actually very late. We had called to announce that we would be late and asked if we could still get some food even though the kitchen would be closed; no problem, you can choose something from the menu and have in your room. Ever eat gastronomic food as room service???? I dare anyone to have such amazing food as room service. Like I said, we were late and left early but we will be back to enjoy M. Boucher's food, and the rest of this wonderful hotel that surprised us at every turn.

First, it's easy to find off the highway, signage all the way.
Second, it is located in a quiet part of the small city of Le Pontet.
Third, plenty of parking.

As for the hotel itself, wonderful people at the reception, bordered by 2 small living room all furnished in "provencal" style. This is the part of the hotel I was told, that dates back in the 1800's.

As this is an older building, there is an easy maze of corridors and corners that reminded me of the Chabichou in Courchvel (anyone been there knows what I going on about).

Everywhere, work of arts and paintings, living rooms, dining area etc, all chosen with care by the owners (I guess).

Our room booked was an entry level room, which to our surprise was no longer available when we got there and we got an upgrade to a Junior suite Lounge, jacuzzi and private terrace category.

Not sure about the others, but room 68 was soooo romantic... A 2 place jacuzzi was waiting, a separate shower, dual sinks etc... all super clean and modern. Oh yeah, afraid to miss anything while you're in there, don't worry, TV and phone are also in there.

Bed was super soft, linens pure white all with a pillow roll to cuddle with your loved one (there were individual pillows as well)

Mini bar / fridge very well garnished, Hennessy cognac, champagne etc... nothing but the best. And best of all, the bar was cold unlike many hotels that mearly hold bottles.

Modern door giving onto a wooden European style door shutter (I love these) giving onto a huge balcony over looking the hotel garden area, flowers and fully grown trees for shade. Again, quite romantic... I should of come here for our honeymoon.

Old school hotel, make sure your room key is back in the door lock as door does not automatically lock when closed, just added to the charm.

What we missed; the indoor heated pool, the spa, the garden area

Hotel was non smoking, just like all other hotels in France following a law set in place a few years ago.

This is now on our top 5 hotels list. Will be back soon, like next month!

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to get a suite!

This was the second time we stayed in this hotel. The first time was about 10 years ago and this time we stayed last week. If you are planning to see around Avignon area, the location is perfect. However it is about 15-20 minutes from center of Avignon. You need a car to go to Avignon.
The hotel is the FIRST CLASS in every aspects. The service is outstanding. The restaurant is excellent. We went a few Michelin 2/3, but the dishes and service in Cassagne are better than theirs. We spent 3 days using Spa package including breakfast and Dinner. They served different dishes everyday and Everything was EXCELLENT. You will feel a typical Provence here.

Very cosy and well located Hotel, close to the main spots in Avignon (<10km) but very calm. The restaurant is outstanding, the price-quality ratio is good, but it is in the upper price segment.
The rooms are well distributed and you feel like being in a little house on your own.

Fantastic Restaurant and Lovely Relaxing Spa with Great Service. The accommodation was lovely with everything in the room that we needed - we even got upgraded for no specific reason. Would definitely go back again.

While 20 minutes outside of Avignon by car, it was a delight to get out of the bustle of that busy town and melt into the garden setting of Auberge de Cassagne. From the welcoming refreshing drink to the helpful check-out, our stay was wonderful. Our room was immense, with comfortable chairs and a writing area, two large closets, a huge bathroom with soaking tub plus shower, as well as two sinks and a separate WC. We brought in wine which we chilled in the mini fridge and then later in a bucket of ice that we requested from room service. Their food was excellent, from the dinner menu, to appetizers served on our garden patio, to the fabulous breakfast buffet (salmon, eggs, fruit, carrots, potatoes and wonderful breads). We were able to enjoy afternoons by the quiet pool that had plenty of chairs and chaises. Such a beautiful idylic place with a friendly staff.

Our stay at Auberge de Cassagne was outstanding in every respect. The hotel staff were charming and very welcoming throughout the hotel and spa. Efficient check in staff offered us a welcome drink of sparkling wine or chilled water - a lovely touch after our journey. The hotel is attractively furnished in provencal style, with beautiful drapes, and tasteful furniture and fittings. Our room, more like a suite in size and amenities, with large bathroom including a jacuzzi bath tub and separate shower ,and even TV in the bathroom, was equipped with very large bed, pleasant seating area, and, unusually for French hotels, a coffee machine. There was a balcony complete with tables and chairs for al fresco enjoyment.

The gardens are immaculate, and the hotel is quiet and restful. The indoor swimming pool is a joy - and exceptionally clean. The opening hours 7am to 11 pm are very welcome, too.

Finally, the restaurant. Wow! What a feast for the eyes and the palette! I have a shellfish allergy, but the maitre d'hotel was extremely accommodating and substituted a beautiful sole dish for the langoustine on our set menu. The following evening, instead of lobster, he proposed a delicious sea bream fish course. Nothing was too much trouble and I was not made to feel embarrassed by my allergy. Our two dinners were memorable.

We booked a special short break, which included dinner and breakfast, and we were delighted with everything.

Room Tip: Our room was 67, a first floor room with balcony and garden view. The colour scheme was pale yellow...
