We visited La Grange in early March 2014 having singled the menu out as one of the most appealing in the town. We hadn't booked so arrived fairly early (around 7pm) and didn't have a problem getting a table. Later on however there were queues out of the door so it is advisable to book as it's obviously popular. The menu includes a selection of Savoyard specialities (fondue, raclette, croutes etc) but also offers a wide range of alternatives. We opted for the Menu Gourmande as the choices were unusual and sounded lovely. They offer a good wine selection, including local Savoie wines, which we opted for (and which were good).

I had the cheese tart to start which was lovely although the portion was huge. The pastry was crisp, the cheese was divine and it was served with quite a large salad. My fiance had the sweet potato and squash soup which came in a large bowl and was served with a good portion of bread and my Mother had the terrine which she really enjoyed. We were in the furthest room of the restaurant but that did not affect the service. There was a roaring fire in the corner which meant the room was lovely and warm and, despite being very busy, the service was both friendly and timely. I had the local Fera fish fillet as my main course which (quite unusually for France) came with a full compliment of vegetables and a root vegetable polenta cake which was creamy and delicious. My fiance and Mother had the wild boar stew with chunky potato wedges and red cabbage and really enjoyed it. The bourgognon sauce was rich and thick and the only issue was finishing it!

As we were all so full we could not manage desert but we were offered complimentary warm spiced rum which was a nice gesture and a great finish to a lovely meal. The only negative was a large party of rowdy Brits but even their raucous laughter did not take away from the dining experience. It is not cheap but no restaurant in a ski resort ever is. It is fairly priced for the quality of the food (and portion sizes). I would certainly recommend and return.

We came here on a Friday night on the basis of a recommendation. The place was a bit noisy and while it was fast to get seated (we had booked beforehand), the service was generally slow. Food was lovely, recommend the cheese tart and their steak. Portions were massive and so it was good value for money. However we did wish that perhaps we had taken the recommendation of our chalet host for the only night that we ate out.

Our table had been booked ahead & the restaurant was bursting at the seams when we ate there. The food was good (apart from the sauce with the sanglier which tasted unpleasant tho' the meat was delicious) & service very cheerful but extremely slow - just not enough staff to cope, the waiters were rushing round like scalded cats. The restaurant has lots of atmosphere & is very quaint. We enjoyed the evening & the cost was reasonable, just a shame about the service.

Just slid into this warm beautiful place, the smell of fine food, atmosphere, fine wine after our first days ski and then last people to leave - that's what a great restaurant is all about, delivers on every level - Great job!! Will be back x

Had an great birthday dinner with friends - the food was good, the wine was good, the waiter made our night (j'ai la peche!...) and my birthday cake was sumptuous. Merci a toute l'equipe de la Barque
