This hotel provides excellent value for money. Great staff, good food, nice bar/restaurant, perfect location. The rooms are very basic, with somewhat of a hostel feel about them, but overall the experience was fantastic. We went on a small group weekend trip and it was perfect. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Stayed at L'Aubergade for a week with my wife in Feb and very much enjoyed our stay. What the hotel may lack in lavish comforts it makes up for with the staff and the food.
Decor and furnishings are basic but comfortable and the place has a little bit of feel of a hostel rather than a hotel but the regular custom of locals indicates what a warm welcome you recieve when visiting. Staff are very impressive and happy to see to any requests form extra pillows for a broken wrist (oops) to just stopping for a chat.
The meal we got was a set menu every night and as a bit of a foodie I was apprehensive at the lack of choice but boy you will not be dissapointed! The food is excellent and prepared in full view by the happy/chatty chefs.
Location is excellent, especially for families and beginners to skiing.
I would expect this hotel will grow in reputation, especially if they make some subtle modernisation, although this may spoil the feel ...?
Great place and highly recommend to all!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the open hallway may be alittle quieter as the accoustics amplify sound in the stone...

This hotel is easy walking/ski distance of Pleney lift and you can ski right to the back door. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. All were English speaking and went out of their way to help. We stayed half board and the food was fantastic. We had equipment hire fitted at the hotel and our passes were waiting for us on arrival - easy!

Room Tip: first floor rooms with an open terrace balcony are good

Can't really add much more as it has all been said.
I would definitely come back to this property and the only things with room for improvement are WIFI access in the rooms and the rooms in general which has already been mentioned

Just back from 3 nights here - I can't add too much to some of the comments below (especially popkitmax) as they're mostly on the same thread as mine. Service and welcome excellent, staff a pleasure to deal with. Location and lounge facilities very good. Food of a high quality. Rooms adequate for our purposes but I could see that a little modernising might be required for couples or families

This was our first visit to Morzine - which we loved. The Aubergade has probably one of the best locations in the village. A few minutes to walk to the brand new Pleney lift, next door to ESF ski garden, and opposite the road to the main square. The best bit for us was sitting on the terrace drinking vin chaud whilst our younger children tobogganed on the slope down to the terrace. Perfect.
To us the hotel felt a bit like Dalston on snow! The staff young, friendly, willing, sometimes a little forgetful, but charmingly so! There was a very laid back, hip vibe to the hotel. A great bar with some fabulous cocktails, Ren products in rooms, great music throughout the day, and even the Winter Olympics on a big screen. The food was yummy and mostly competent, and often delicious. We also had lunch on a few days which was great as well. BUT I have to warn about the rooms. As I understand Mountain Mavericks manage the hotel, but do not own it, therefore they can only effect the offering, not the fabric of the property. The ground floor is great and the vintage furniture feels just right, but the rooms take vintage to another level! The upper floors are as we remember French hotels from yesteryear. Mismatched carpets, carpets on the wall (yes), sorbet coloured bathrooms (which are tiny), showers that don't work, brown painted door frames, chintzy curtains and odd light fittings. On a more positive note, the rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are really comfy with lovely white bedlinen and quality feather duvets and very very warm. Fab Ren products (my fav brand). Given the set-up there are obviously aspects that the team cannot effect, but if it were me I would try hard to negotiate some simple improvements with the owners. New carpets, new curtains, a bit of paint, new sign outside, some art in the stairways. I don't think it would take much to make the surroundings fit the vision a little more closely.

Great for kids of all ages, from 5 years to teens all seemed happy in there surrounding. Enough relaxing areas that meant you didn't need to stay in your room. There is also a separetely run creche in the hotel if you have little ones.

But in the end, we decided that whilst we were initially a little horrified by the rooms, we liked the vibe of the hotel so much better than somewhere that may be a little better specced, but full of tacky chunky pine, heart motifs and gingham. We're city people and this suited our sensibilities so much better. In conclusion - we'll be back - new curtains or not!

Room Tip: The back rooms have views of the slope - the front rooms can be noisy

Great hotel, we enjoyed our stay, rooms are clean, service fabulous with a friendly and helpful team. The food exceeded expectations - great menus with lovely service and presentation. The only downside was there are no baths which would be good after a day on the slopes! Location is great and morzine has managed to keep its character.
