Riders Refuge Chalet Eterle
Ranked #41 of 145 Speciality Lodging in Morzine
Reviewed 6 April 2014 via mobile

Joe, Ollie and Riders Refuge never fail to disappoint. After such a fantastic first trip to Morzine and first holiday with Riders Refuge earlier in the season. I was lucky enough to fit in another sneaky week, and another great week it was!
Nothing is to much trouble for these guys. Everything is in place for a tremendous trip, the food was once again fantastic, the Chalet, it's hosts and lovely location offer everything you could want and need for your holiday. Along with the perfectly timed easy transfers, ski passes ready and waiting, hot tub warm and always ready and the picnics on the slopes courtesy of the 'alpine hero's', see you next year!

Where do I start? Very easy to organise the holiday! Despite changing the party numbers a few times nothing was deemed a problem- he even arranged 2 separate transfers for us as we were arriving at different times at no extra cost. We were welcomed with prosecco and bacon butties by our wonderful hosts Joe and Ollie (just what we needed!). The chalet itself was immaculate, spacious but homely, had a lovely view of the mountains and a cosy fireplace. Lovely rooms and beds you didn't want to get out of in the morning. The hot tub was a real treat after a hard days skiing and they had even thought about providing us all our own bath robes. Breakfast was different every day: ranging from pancakes to full english breakfast and always delicious. The 3-course-dinners were to die for and always presented to a very high standard- great variety throughout the week but I have to say the duck breast was my favourite! Now onto Joe and Ollie who truly made our week!! They were always smiling, great banter and nothing was too much for them to organise or provide for us. They managed to be professional but at the same time were a real laugh and we loved having them around. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were having the best time and they certainly managed it! One of the best skiing holidays by far- felt very spoilt the whole week. I would recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a 'week to remember'!

If you go on a trip to Morzine then this is probably the best way to do it.
Joe and Ollie were amazing hosts, ultra friendly and always went out of their way to help. The food was amazing every night, and the chalet is in a beautiful location with mountains in front and woods in the back...
We had a great week of snow, and staying at this chalet made it really easy to have as much time on the slopes as possible, and really good hospitality in between.
The owners Jill and Jono make the whole process really seamless..
Really comfortable rooms after a long day riding.

A truly fabulous time from beginning to end. Couldn't of wanted more from our holiday! Everything was perfectly organised, from the transfer from airport to Chalet, Doorstep Skis (exactly what it says on the tin!), to the beautiful Chalet Eterle. Immaculately presented by the hosts Joe and Oli. All week we were truly spoilt with fantastic catering, company, lifts back and forth on speed dial, nothing was to much! Even some 'confidence boosting' skiing help too. A huge thank you to Joe, Oli and all at Riders Refuge for what was a fabulous trip. Couldn't recommend more highly, see you again soon. Thanks guys! What a holiday! Riders Refuge proved to be an excellent choice for our Morzine ski holiday. The Chalet was lovely, certainly big enough and with a nice hot tub for some post-dinner frivolity!

For me though, what really stood out over the week (in comparison with ski holidays I've had elsewhere in the Alps) was the service. First impressions do count and having skis and boots arrive at the chalet door freed us of the annual hire-shop brawl, and our chalet hosts were lovely and attentive.

The food was lovely - 3 course meals every night, with both hosts joining us for dinner. Whilst different to other shared chalets, this meant we really got to know them which added to our holiday, giving it a much more personable and intimate feel. I can't say I've ever been invited to an Ice Hockey match by chalet hosts before, or any other event for that matter, but what fun it was - an extra-time home win, result! It's this sort of gesture that summed up our holiday, and made us keen to return.

The only 4-star rating here is the Chalet location, but when RR drop you wherever you want to go in the morning, and pick you up from the slopes in the evening, what does it matter?

Thanks again, Joe & Ollie, for a wonderful week of fabulous food, superb skiing and cracking company!
