The chalet is really beautiful and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the afternoon tea was a perfect end to a day's energetic skiing! The only slight drawback is that the chalet is quite far out of Morzine and taxi's cost around €20 each way so keep that in mind if you like to go out after supper. However, the location is also an advantage as you really get to relax and make the most of the chalet and the wine! Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in a bedroom on the mezzanine which had its own balcony, definitely the best room in the c...

Hi there,
Thanks for your kind words - we really appreciate it.
We know the chalet isn't in the ideal party location but we do offer lifts into town after dinner if you want to go out. The taxi on the way back is generally an 8-seater minibus which can help keep the cost down as well. Like you said, most people just want to relax after a 4-course dinner anyway!

It would be lovely to have you back again next year so stay in touch and have a great 2013!

We had a wonderful stay at Ferme a Jules. Highlights include delicious food and wine, roomy accommodation, hot tub with wonderful views and Murray the chalet dog. The only possible improvement would be a mid day shuttle bus to allow for the odd lie in or early finish for the less energetic members of the group!

We stayed at Ferme a Jules over Christmas 2012 with another family, so 8 of us in total. The whole chalet got on really well and all the kids had a great time. The whole AK’s team could not have been more helpful and accommodating to our needs, including one of our party being veggie, which didn’t seem to be an issue. The food was amazing, like eating in a Michelin star restaurant. The kids menu served a little earlier than the adults went down a treat with our lot. Christmas day was fabulous, I lost count of the courses and the kids had a magical day. Drop off and pick up to slopes was beautifully co-ordinated, ski man drop off and picked up from chalet………the only thing left to do was ski. Best ski chalet we’ve ever stayed in, will be back soon I hope. Our favourite member of the team was Ivy, she rocks. Amanda, Andy and Ellie of Hertford, UK.

Chalet - very good
Location - poor

To be fair we agree with all previous reviews & cannot fault the quality and service offered by this chalet but it is just in the wrong location in our opinion. Our personal preference would have been to stay within walking distance of Morzine but this is just too far out and taxis cost a whopping 22 euros each way!

The chalet offers drop off and pick up to and from two ski areas and they are pretty punctual but the times are fairly restricted and if there is a large group staying as we had then they tend to get priority so it feels a little restrictive.

If you want to enjoy apres ski and the ambience of Morzine which is a fabulous traditional ski town, and one of the best we have come across in our 25 years of skiing, then you will miss out staying here. If you don't want this then Chalet Ferme a Jules is just perfect.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to review and thank you also for your kind words about our service - we pride ourselves on this so it's always nice to hear that it's appreciated.

We're sorry to hear your comments about the location though. We try to be very clear on our website about exactly where the chalet is (there is a google map with the pinpoint location of the chalet on it) and we also explain on the homepage that it is a 5 min drive to Morzine so I hope it didn't come as a surprise?

As we said at the beginning of your holiday, we are more than happy to pick you up from Morzine if you wanted to ski down and enjoy Apres-ski and even take you into town after dinner to continue the party - you just needed to ask. We might have even joined you for a beer!

Although the late night taxi home is 22 Euros, it is a minibus and fits up to 8 people so the cost can be fairly reasonable if a few of you go together.

Thanks again for the review and we'll let you know if we open a central Morzine chalet!

I stayed at AliKats in January 2013 with my husband for a week and it was a fantastic holiday. I have numerous life threatening and challenging allergies and Kat and the team were really understanding and helpful. With a three course meal each evening that did take some planning. We went through each menu and made sure every meal was suitable. Since they have two kitchens at either end of the chalet this was quite easy to do. I only had a few issues due to not realising I had an allergy to Soya! Why does that have to happen that week? But once we worked out what was causing me a problem, we cut out the soya milk and the food was OK again. A highlight was the beetroot ravioli with sweet potato mash inside. I don't eat out much with my allergies so I was very excited about this holiday but also a bit apprehensive. If you have coeliac disease, or allergies this is a great chalet to stay - as long as your allergies are stable and you know exactly what you're allergic to! Mine are pretty confusing at the moment and I think some herbs are making me react too which made things harder but if you are clear, Kat really gets allergies and the other staff were also really helpful.

As a couple we fould the accommodation was perfect. Comfortable room, which we didn't spend that much time in anyway, fanstastic weather and some beautiful fresh show. The chalet was fun with other groups of skiiers and boarders, all from around the UK so we also had plenty of company.

I only wish I could pick up that chalet and put it closer to the slopes. The staff were great at mini bus trips but due to the nature of a large chalet with groups which filled a bus, there was a bit of a fight for the first shuttle in the morning and the first one back. If you're in a group I think it worked really well. If everyone wanted to come home at 4.30 it wasn't so flexible. However half an hour in the bar waiting for the last one wasn't all that bad. Just be prepared for this, and you'll be fine.

On the staff night out, also, if you're there in a small group you can walk to the next village which I think is Mortriond. We didn't realise this and ended up having to pay for a whole mini bus taxi for just us two. Never assume that when someone says they have booked you a taxi it will be just a taxi car. It all seems to be travel by mini bus or nothing else. If we'd known there were places closer we might have saved ourselves a bit of money. But, it was a special holiday and in the scheme of things, not so bad.

And if you forget to take your goggles and scarf on the day the snow comes down you can't nip back to the chalet! But the shuttle buses always turned up on time and it was only about 20 mins to the slopes. Just make sure you go prepared each day with everything you might possibly need.

I think it would also be fantastic in the summer. The chalet is in beautiful quiet, tranquil surroundings. It's clean, comfortably and with wine as part of the deal every evening, sitting by a roaring fire exchanging ski stories from the day what more could you ask?

The staff were all really friendly and really seemed to care that we all had a great time. Special thanks to Kat for all your research and shopping for special stuff for me. I hope I wasn't too much of a nightmare. And to all the staff who went the extra mile, service with a smile. You know who you are ;o)

To the ski hire man who collected our skis a day early - that didn't go down too well. But they arrived back again within the hour that morning with an apology. Just make sure you're clear with the dates of your ski hire, and if you change the date and extend it, like we did, make sure this has been noted down correctly. The ski hire people have access to teh chalet so can come and go and can take kit back without checking. Usually this is correct and it's people who are going home but in our case they hadn't remembered that we extended our hire. I think this was probably a one off and just sods law it happened to us on the last day after getting the short straw with the shuttle bus again!

For someone who is used to self catering ski holidays this was such a treat. Having allergies too means we don't eat out much so I pretty much cook ALL the time. And when I do eat out I have a plain steak of ham egg and chips. So having three course meals cooked every night was such a treat. I didn't feel left out or made to feel difficult and sometimes what I had was better than what every else had... there would be looks and questions, "Why can't I have that? How come you got that?" Ha Ha. I love it when that happens. Having not been skiing for about six years break I have not seriously caught the bug again and will definitely be skiing again next year. This isn't a cheap holiday but for a 40th birthday it was a fantastic treat. Wish I could afford the 5* treatment every year.
