“Still good but not amazing”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

We had a very good meal in this restaurant during our recent ski break, we have been here many times before and have always been fortunate to dine in the less crowded upstairs section, this time we were downstairs and felt quite squeezed and too close to the other tables.

The food was its usual excellent self but having had much better meals in other nearby restaurants this trip, Le Grillon left us slightly underwhelmed this visit.

“One annoyance”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

I have visited le grillon 3 times in the past month, their menu is massive yet i would say not everything is at a good standard because of the amount of different foods they do. I found the carbonara and calzone to be lovely but the lasagne was just microwaved and quite dry. Also one of the wastresses seems to always mess up our order (even though she's never been our waitress for the evening). On the first visit she took away my meal after I had a few bites saying it was the wrong one, (to return straight away with an identical meal) she litrally pulled the plate away from me as I took a mouthful! On the second visit she took our drinks order then we never received them and had to order them again. And on the third visit she was just cold and rude. The other waitress in there is absolutely lovely though and will do anything you ask!

“Disappointing”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Based on reviews thought we would eat here. Asked to return in 15mins- is this a policy? Looked like several tables free. Given table upstairs. Bit like school refectory, possibly ok for large groups only. My Savoyarde plate was a rip off and had the addition of what looked like fried hash browns-yuch! It was not very good. Husbands pizza ok, not lot you can do wrong there.

“Lively atmosphere”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

This is a very lively restaurant in the heart of Morzine. We ate dinner here twice on a short ski trip to Morzine. We hadn't booked either night but managed to time our arrival so we got a table both times, although it was touch and go the second night. It is very popular with large parties - tables of 8 or more are common - but that is probably because the menu is so extensive that there is something for everyone. First night I had the duck breast and OH had tartiflette. Breast was much bigger than you would get in a restaurant in UK and cooked to perfection. Second night we stuck to pizza and pasta. Pasta was delicious - I don't know how they cooked it but the pasta was so full of flavour I can still taste it. Both nights we shared a starter and still couldn't manage desert. Would recommend the house wine, particularly the red.

Staff very busy but service was slick. Prices reasonable, somewhere in the middle range of restaurants we looked at.

“Food Heaven”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

This restaurant serves amazing food with great service. You must book a few days before as it gets fully booked really quick. If you eat upstairs be sure to get a seat by the window...its roasting!
