“Wonderful warm welcome with great hosts.”
Reviewed 15 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

In January of 2016 we booked our first family ski holiday with Zenith Holidays (based on a recommendation from a friend). Our initial thoughts were of a independent company who put customer service to the front of their operations. Even early on, nothing was too much trouble, i.e. discussing food options for the kids, dietary requirements of the party, arrangements for lessons (lift passes & ski hire), nursery for our toddler and most importantly being advised when the cheaper flights for departure were realised.

We chose Chalet Ellen as it was close to Geneva and a short transfer, another factor in choosing this chalet was the contingency that if there was no snow we could head upto Avoriaz which is also part of the Porte du Soleil ski area. This proved a good idea as Morzine struggled with snow early on in this year's season. Again, the customer service from Zenith was excellent as the week before we were due to leave, the team called and arrangements were made to change lift passes and lessons to Avoriaz.

Also in the week before our departure the Resort Manager, Tom Perks, left a message and when I returned his call, he insisted in calling me back to save my call time (that was a nice touch). We discussed menus and arrangements. This was great.

On the day of our departure, we received a text asking how we were. Unfortunately, freezing fog in Geneva delayed our flight out but texts were swapped and this appeared to be no problem. Upon our arrival at Geneva, there was a wee bit of confusion (the text message that was supposed to be sent to us advising on our transfer company got lost in the ether), so this took us time to get to our transfer.
Point to note, I'd recommend taking a 2 Euro coin for a trolley from the airport as it was a considerable walk from the arrivals desk to the transfer bus car park with the ski luggage. This journey was fine but the driver could have done with sticking on the heating in the bus!

Our delay in arrival put some pressure on us to get our ski hire but the skiset shop stayed open long enough to allow us to get our gear (thanks guys) before they headed off to celebrate New Year's Eve. I don't think bubbles with ski hire is a regular event.

At the Chalet we met our chalet host, Jack Bellingham, there was a warm welcome and we sat down to a sumptuous banquet for New Year's Eve.

Due to the snow conditions, Zenith very kindly offered to take the family to the Prodains Cable car for access to Avoriaz (on the first day, Tom went with them up the mountain) and Jack took me and the toddler to the nursery in Morzine. This arrangement continued through out the week. Thanks Tom & Jack. At the end of the skiing, it was easy enough to get the Navette bus from the Prodain Cable car to a stop close to Chalet Ellen.

The Navette bus also allowed me to collect the toddler from the nursery in Morzine.

Without spoiling it for other guests in the season, I can only comment that the catering and hospitality from the Zenith resort team was fantastic! Tom's card trick for the kids is still being shown to visitors to our house. Jack was great in dealing with our fussy eater and we still chuckle about the way he got one of the kids to prepare the dinner on our last night!

Morzine is a lovely town and well worth an explore. The guys will give you some great recommendations for dinner on their night off. Having young children with us meant that the apres ski wasn't sampled but it looked good.
Point to note. Be prepared for a steep walk from Morzine to Chalet Ellen (I did it once and used the Navette!)

Our only disappointment from a fab week (including the disappointment of little snow in Morzine) was the ESF ski school in Avoriaz....Our kids didn't get tuition we expected and hadn't improved from the lessons at the local snow dome. My fiancé's confidence was left shattered by an inconsiderate instructor.

Our final comment is to thank Sara, Katie, Tom & Jack for a great holiday. If it wasn't for their levels of customer care and attention to detail, we might not have skied.

Thanks.

“Absolutely fantastic chalet and service - highly reccomend”
Reviewed 5 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Had a fantastic stay in Chalet Ellen - Sarah organised the whole trip at short notice and was superb from the moment I stepped off the plane. The airport transfers arrived on time and were very efficient and sarah was always on hand to help out throughout my stay. The food and accommodation was brilliant too, will definitely be booking again next year!

Me and my wife stayed here for 4 nights in Feb, we stayed in the Otter room. Alex and Sarah were great hosts,

Alex's dinners were very welcomed after a long day skiing.

The chalet is 10-15 mins walk outside the town centre,

Every morning Sarah gave us a lift to the ski lifts which made things very easy.

“Marvellous week in Morzine”
Reviewed 8 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

stayed in the chalet early Jan, as a group of 3 and apart from the weather, everything was superb. Sarah, the resort manager was on hand 24/7 to answer any questions we had, she was constantly going above and beyond and it really felt like she was doing more for us the entire time. Alex, the host was also great and he really accommodated us even the food he cooked for us to my surprise was exceptional. We had such a fab time that we have booked to go back in March!!

Just returned from an excellent short ski break staying in Chalet Ellen with friends. Great service, very organised and good communication from all staff involved, right from making the initial enquiries at the beginning to organising our transfer home on the last night.
The chalet itself is lovely and cosy, and the sauna is great for relaxing in after a long day skiing.
Alex did a superb job cooking for us every day and both him and Sarah went out of their way to accommodate our requests. Sarah drove me to a shop one morning to get an emergency replacement set of ski goggles before we set out for the day which was so kind and helpful.
It was a lovely holiday, with lovely staff, in a lovely place. The only thing that could have been better was the weather but it didn't stop us having a good time :)

“Excellent food, great service, fantastic value”
Reviewed 26 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Just returned from a week in Chalet Ellen with Zenith Holidays, and we took the chalet on sole occupancy for our group of 10. The whole thing was great, with an efficient collection in Geneva by Carl the Resort Rep , smooth trip to Morzine and warm welcome at Chalet Ellen by Ollie, the host. The food was excellent, with lovely cakes each afternoon, varied breakfasts with a different hot option each day (blueberry pancakes, French Toast, sausages and eggs etc.,) plus the usual porridge, cereals, pastries, yoghurts, juices. Dinners were also excellent with tasty, filling and inventive dishes and plenty of wine.

The chalet itself is warm and comfortable with a sauna downstairs and log fire in the lounge. It's a 10 minute walk downhill to Morzine town if you want to go for a pre-dinner drink (a bit longer on the way back - UPhill!), but Carl provides a mini bus transfer to the lifts each morning. We stored our ski gear in the hire shop close to the Pleney, but there is a ski room beneath the chalet if you want to come back on the resort bus - every 10 to 15 minutes, free and the stop is a two minute stroll from the chalet.

All in all, this was an excellent value holiday with great food and efficient, friendly service both from the UK office from Katie and Sara, and in resort from Ollie and Carl.

We would recommend Zenith Holidays and if coming back to Morzine, wouldn't hesitate to choose Chalet Ellen - thanks to all concerned
