If you can imagine waking up to Blue skies outside your window with a mountain vista in the near horizon then this is the chalet for you! After your day of outdoor sports (skiing, hiking etc..a mere 5-10 minute drive to the lifts) you can soak in the hot tub to lossen the muscles or relax on the sofa while watching the large screen tv...OR do both!
The kitchen is huge and cooking on the gas stove while mingling in the open concept layout works great for socializing with friends and family,
A definite 10 out of 10 in my book!
See you again soon!

“Now that felt like a real holiday - what a place!”
Reviewed 8 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We are now complete converts to summer holidays in the mountains having thoroughly unwound from the stresses of every day life in the lap of luxury at Chalet Le Grand Bleu, gasping the clean air in awe of the majestic beauty of its setting. This is THE place to get away from it all.

We were blessed with sunshine and lunching on the terrace on the final day, we really were very sad to be leaving. The mountains are spectacular and so are the pretty lakeside towns and views. There are so many places to see, walks and other things to do it will keep us amused for many holidays. The gastronomy everywhere was excellent and the French were very friendly even though we don't speak the language. Carre Four supermarkets were on many of our drives so very easy to pick up supplies. We ate in for breakfast and one main meal each day.

The chalet is my favourite kind of self-catering i.e. also serves as a home-from-home for the owners so is really well equipped. You are guaranteed to sleep like a log when you simply press a button for the outside black-out shutters to come down. They have thought of everything here with mod cons a plenty, never mind treats like the hot tub and sauna complete with adjacent shower room. The only improvement I could think of is more electric sockets in the bedroom but there are plenty elsewhere in this large chalet. It's excellent for sharing with 8 en-suites, range cookers and plenty of space in the communal areas.

Also loved the wifi, watching BBC news, an outside table to dine on on each side so you could always enjoy eating al fresco in the sunshine, the showers, the comfy seating areas with real wood fires, the bus stop right outside the chalet that takes you into Morzine if different groups of people want to entertain themselves in different ways, the goat village and the views everywhere. Bring your camera! The ski runs looked amazing too. Note this property is in a small village and you will need a car but it is a truly heavenly place to stay if you are on holiday to kick back with friends and come home feeling truly refreshed.

p.s. if you are gluten free / coeliac a bio shop in Thonon Les Bains has an enormous selection of Schar gluten free bread, pizza, cereal etc and coconut milk etc. There is also a British run cafe in Morzine called Dotties that will do gluten free cakes if you ask for them in advance (and they have wifi) but we didn't get a chance to try it as we were somewhere new every day. Note they were closing at end of school summer holidays though to open back up again when ski season started.

Liked best: The scenery from the chalet was breathtaking and the standard of the chalet was brilliant too.
Liked least: Going home. The knives in the kitchen could be sharper if I had to be picky. With gluten free people in our party we probably cook more than most though.
