“Fantastic chalet”
Reviewed 12 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

This was my second time staying with Host Savoie and this time I had recommended the chalet to a new group of friends so really hoped they would be impressed. Thankfully they were.

The highlight must be the service from the staff. They put on great meals every night (hearty home cooking) and are very helpful with anything else that comes up. Nothing was too much trouble which was great!

Other useful info, the sauna is nice after a day on the slopes but only fits two at a time. The bus into town is 5 mins but if you are in normal shoes then it is an easy walking distance (we did this several times). The super morzine lift is definitely the fastest way to get to avoriaz compared to getting on a second bus.

P.s the wine really is unlimited

“Friendly, comfortable and all we could ask for!”
Reviewed 11 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

We recently stayed here as a group of 12 friends - we were so impressed right from our arrival (greeted by the lovely Sylvie and our fantastic chalet hosts with tea and biscuits). Everything was so smooth - we booked transfers and ski hire effortlessly through Andy, and they even recommended and booked us a restaurant for the chalet night off.

The food each day was fantastic - a very filling breakfast and a super evening meal, with genuinely unlimited wine which was well appreciated!

Comfortable rooms, with several bathrooms which was great for our group size.

Very easy journey to the lifts - 30 sec walk to a bus stop with free buses every 15mins.

Absolutely would recommend this for a relaxing, fun, effortless stay in Morzine for a big group!

“Consistently very comfortable, thoroughly enjoyable family holiday.”
Reviewed 20 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

This is our 8th year with Andy, Sylvie and the Host Savoie team and that says it all! They consistently provide the most warmest of welcomes, comfortable, clean and well equipped chalets that cater for the whole family; children included with top quality food and wine. They offer pre bookable lift passes, Doorstep Skis, packed lunches, and its all done with no fuss, clear communication and the enjoyment of your holiday at the heart of what they do. Their Chalet hosts have always been exceptional, attentive, intuitive to needs, unobtrusive but a central part of your holiday. The whole team make an effort to make your stay the best it could be. Whatever you want or need to know they have the answer, tailored correctly to your needs. They have cracked the good value, family holiday.

Liked best: Everything reflected what we expected
Liked least: The children thought the 50m walk to the bus stop was too far !! it did allow us to access the whole Porte du Soleil though easily.

“Christmas at Chalet Claude”

I have just returned from a wonderful Christmas week at this chalet as guest of Host Savoie. I can’t praise the staff highly enough for their care. I loved the chalet and food and had great fun as part of the Piste Pals group run by Sarah.
The chalet was warm and comfortable with plentiful hot water at all times. Staff had decorated it nicely for Christmas and provided us with delicious seasonal and local food which was plentiful and tasty. We had wonderful breakfasts, homemade cakes and hot drinks on return from skiing. The chalet is in an excellent location -a short walk into town and very near a bus stop for days when you are wearing ski boots. It’s easy to get home after skiing and you get a warm welcome. There is a useful drying room and a welcome sauna room.
Staff, in particular Andy and Sylvie from Host Savoie, went the extra mile to meet all our dietary and transport needs, give useful advice on where to ski despite the rather poor snow at the start of the season and even dealt with a minor medical emergency in one of the guests with sensitivity and efficiency. They helped with ski hire and passes which saved a lot of time and effort. Special mention to Hannah and Leah our lovely chalet girls for their hard work all week.

“Fantastic Christmas in Morzine (Dec 2015)”

Just spent a wonderful week in Chalet Claude with Host Savoie. Sylvie, Andy, Joe, Leah and Hanna were simply lovely and couldn't do enough to make the visit memorable. The skiing conditions weren't fantastic but that is the chance you take when booking for so early in the season. Chalet Claude's location was great, only a 10 minute walk (15 mins in ski boots) from the Super Morzine chairlift and the center of town. There were regular buses going into town if you didn't fancy the walk that stopped within 20 meters of the front door. The chalet accommodation was good, comfortable and warm. Sylvie/Leah did a great job cooking in a normal sized kitchen, especially for 12 people with different dietary requirements. Christmas dinner was just fantastic!!! There was plenty of food and a good variety, and the afternoon tea cakes/slices were worth coming back for after a hard day's skiing. The bedrooms weren't particularly large but are adequate for what you pay, especially if you stay with a group of friends. My group were all single people who had never met so you didn't know who you were sharing with until you arrived - but again, this was advertised so you knew before arriving. I would recommend Chez Claude as a good chalet to stay in but the team from Host Savoie were truly excellent and made Christmas so much more enjoyable than I expected.

Thank you very much for your kind review and we are pleased that your holiday lived up to expectations. I know that our team all really enjoyed working at the chalet last week for the good humour and friendly atmosphere amongst the majority of your group. I will be sure to pass on your comments to our new team members as they have all done so well in the last three weeks since arriving with us. Please do come back and see us any time! In the meantime though thanks again and I hope that your journey home was uneventful!

“The faulty bulb that blew all the best Christmas lights”
Reviewed 27 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Firstly the only element that saved this experience was the professionalism of Host Savoie Andy, Sylvie and Joe and perseverance of the two young hardworking chalet maids. Host Savoie made the best out of a PistePals booked group Who wanted a Christmas ski trip despite the snow being rationed. The chalet itself however was over-booked, over-crowded, over-charged for and some basic but key facilities (bathroom) poorly maintained. Seasonal decoration seemed a token effort. Food was at best average, in some part due to the fact there was not kitchen space to adequately prepare 12 satisfactory meals. Chalet does not comfortably accommodate 12 adults if there are more than 2 to a room. 4 adults in one bedroom and 3in another with what resembled cheap children's furniture was cramped and therefore strained relationships; inadequate communal spaces meant limited chances of personal time. I had expected the same excellent experience as 12months ago having booked with the same Piste Pals company, for the same price but at a different chalet (Chelmer) which is why I booked at Easter and again Christmas this year. For £600/week I felt cheated and as if Christmas has passed me by this year. I will now have to reconsider booking with this company in the future though I suspect this doesn't matter!

Hello Annie. I trust that your journey home went smoothly. Your kind words about the professionalism of myself (Andy), Sylvie, Joe and everyone who looked after you during your stay are much appreciated. We do strive to be professional and helpful in everything that we do. I hope that you noticed this when we helped with things such as organising that 40 euro transfer for your 4am departure when our terms state that we can only guarantee that rate for flights departing after 9am, or when we changed your inbound transfer and ski hire bookings (without surcharge) when you decided to change your arrival date with just over a week's notice.

I am quite uncomfortable having this conversation on a public forum as it goes against my professional ethos. It seems that I have been given no choice though as you went home without speaking to us about any of this. Our email address and phone number are highly visible too and I can therefore only conclude that you prefer to try and hamper our future bookings. Fortunately, Trip Advisor does recognise the right to reply!

Any criticisms you have of the booking agent (Pistepals) ought really to be directed to them rather than on our chalet page of this website and I will only address the concerns that you have about the chalet and our service. Again, for the sake of people reading this review please note that Host Savoie is an established chalet operator with 11 years experience and a lot of lovely regular visitors who return year after year (to this and our three other chalets). This guest was part of a group of solo travellers booked through a third party and all points about pricing etc are not relevant here.

To address your specific complaints please see below:

1) The chalet was not "over-booked". It has a capacity of 13 when full and all beds are standard singles. You may well feel that there was not enough space for a group of solo travellers but that is a different issue. We regularly host groups of 10 - 13 in this chalet and have done for 7 years without problems.

2) The price you paid for your holiday is between you and the booking agent - again this has no place on a review of the chalet and could mislead future visitors when our rates are actually amongst the best in the resort.

3) Seasonal decoration is low key and subtle indeed, no flashing lights or inflatable snowmen here. We prefer to keep things classy. Sorry if you had hoped for more!

4) You did mention to Sylvie about the problem with your ensuite bathroom and for that we can only apologise. The ventilation system did have a problem and it is going to be rectified shortly. It was however very difficult to do anything about it over Christmas when nobody was working. We had hoped that a spot of condensation wouldn't spoil your week and can assure you that we didn't ignore your feedback.

5) Which furniture was cheap or made for children? I can only imagine that you are referring to the third bed in your room which is a cabin style bed. It is a full size single and was purchased from a respected local furniture maker here in the Alps. Your room regularly has three people in it and we have never had anyone say that there was insufficient space. There is no such thing as an incorrect opinion but there are incorrect ways to express one and I would suggest that you are very much in the minority.

6) You mention the hard-working chalet staff but it is a shame that they now have to read about the food provided being 'average at best' after their first couple of weeks here. On the rare occasion when meals have gone wrong in the past we have always taken action and apologised when necessary. On this occasion though we are confident that the food we provided was of the correct standard. Our menus are all set by Sylvie and she was in the chalet most evenings to oversee the kitchen side of things. Of your group of 12 five people actually told us (to our faces) that the food had been delicious. There are chalets out there that offer far more luxurious food but we have always strived for hearty, home-cooked food and plenty of it. None of our chalets are aimed at the luxury or gourmet markets and our regular visitors like what we do. I'm sorry that our food was not to your liking but we are satisfied that our chalet host did a great job, working to the guidelines that she was given.

We were genuinely surprised to read your review and still can't understand why anyone would be so nice to our faces and then attempt to damage our business within hours of getting home. However, we can't turn the clock back and I hope that wherever you choose to spend Christmas next year it will be full of festive cheer.

Another excellent experience staying in a Chalet managed by Andy and Sylvie. The food was of a very high standard with a great variety, also lovely freshly made cakes every day . Clean and comfortable chalet in a good location close to the ski bus stop but also able to walk into Morzine in less than 15 mins.
