Lovely friendly hotel. I stayed there January 2014, Owner speaks excellent English and is keen to help with local info. Food is fantastic, rooms comfortable, ski bus every 10 mins right outside the hotel, 5 min drive to lift which takes you straight to avoriaz. Lift closes Monday - Thursday at 2100, Friday Saturday at midnight Sunday at 2200hrs. Taxi £45.00. Avoriaz leads to the porte de soleil ski range which is vast. No night life around the hotel, but dinner finishes about 2100 so nice going into lounge to meet other guests. Good value

I have just returned from a weeks' stay at Hotel Les Lans. Travelling with my husband and his parents we all had a wonderful holiday. The hotel was located in a small village 3kms from Morzine called Les Prodains. It was beautiful. There was about 2 feet of snow around and you can see up to Avoriaz from the hotel.

The rooms are very nice. The beds were very comfortable and there is a small seating area in the rooms which was good for playing cards. The bathroom is small but sufficient and the shower was always hot. From the balcony there were great views up to Avoriaz.

The food at the hotel was excellent. The breakfast is continental but had everything you would want for breakfast. Four choices of cereal, yoghurts, fruit, meats and a different cheese every day, freshly cut different types of bread and a choice of cakes. There was a different pastry every day too. The dinners consisted of four courses. The starters were large. For main course we had every type of meat - chicken, beef, pork, lamb as well as salmon. We also had a lovely fondue served with cold meats and salad and a gratin with meat cooked on a hot grill at your table. The third course was always a local cheese which is a nice treat. The desserts were varied and delicious. Wine/beer was not included but was reasonably priced for a ski resort - 6E for a pint and bottles of wine started at 18e. If you didn't finish your bottle of wine it was re-corked and stored for the next day which is useful.

The hotel was warm and the staff were excellent. Aube the manager was there almost all the time and really oversees everything. If you wanted your room cleaned you had to be out of it by 9 but this was not a problem for us.

You could walk to the prodains gondola taking you up to Avoriaz or there was a bus every 15 mins or so. You can also take a bus into Morzine (takes about 10 mins) and this runs every 15 mins until 8pm. The gondola to Avoriaz runs until 9pm during the week and until 12 midnight on Fri and Sat which was good if you wanted to have a drink/eat up in Avoriaz or go bowling/swimming.

The hotel bar was cosy with a wood burning stove.

We all had the best week. It was relaxing and for a three star hotel in a French ski resort just excellent. We hope to be back soon.

Stayed at Les Lans in Jan 2014 with Crystal Holidays. Found the staff very pleasant and helpful. There were a few quirky rules about turning up for dinner on time, but if you informed them that you were going to be late then they still catered for you. Excellent bar for relaxing after skiing. The food was excellent. The bathroom in our room, which was a four person room with only two of us staying, was somewhat small but still perfectly adequate. Would have liked another holder higher up the wall for the shower. The beds were very comfortable Our friends had a smaller room and found it a bit cramped but sufficient for their needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in going back there. Having the bus stop right outside the hotel really helped getting to the lifts quickly. Although the hotel drive was somewhat treacherous with the ice.

We stayed here for a week's ski-ing over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Aube, the owner is a delightful lady with fluent English and all the staff are friendly and efficient. We found the food really good. We loved the cheese courses and the local Savoy dishes, including a fondue night. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a fantastic traditional Christmas Eve meal. Our teenage children also enjoyed the food, despite there being no choice, although we were given the option of an alternative for fondue night
The rooms are fairly compact but comfortable and warm and to be honest we spent very little time there apart from to sleep! The showers were always powerful and hot. Each room has access to a large shared balcony with fabulous views up to Avoriaz..
The hotel is very relaxed - not the sort of place where you would dress up to much for dinner!
The free bus stops outside to take you to Morzine or the gondola at Les Prodains.
This is a very friendly hotel and guests do tend to chat at meal times and in the bar and befriend each other for the duration of the holiday.
The gondola up to Avoriaz is very new and very fast and is easily walkable - we never used the bus to get between the gondola and the hotel.
We used the ski hire shop at the base of the gondola, which is also ideally placed and the staff are very helpful.
Les Prodain doesn't have any shops, only hotels/bars, so any supplies will have to be bought in Avoriaz or Morzine.
This hotel was an inspired choice by my husband!

My wife and I have just returned from a week skiing in Avoriaz and we stayed at Les Lans Hotel. It was easily one of the best hotel stays we have ever had.

We arrived at the hotel about 930pm on Saturday evening after a 4 hour transfer from the airport. I wasn't expecting any food as I thought we would've missed the evening meal by that time. We were both very happy to be greeted by Aube, who sent us straight up to the restaurant where we were fed our first fantastic three-course meal.

The rooms in this hotel are basic but clean and comfortable and we were given fresh bedding every day. We had a large balcony with a beautiful view. The shower was lovely and always had hot water no matter the time of day.

The customer service throughout the hotel is superb; all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We accidentally brought an incorrect travel adapter with us, but Aube happily brought us a spare one for us to use for the week.

Les Lans is in the perfect location for skiing in the area. The free bus to the Prodains ski lift stops right outside the hotel and you can just as easily take the bus going the opposite direction to Morzine, stopping outside the Pleney ski lift.

The best aspect of this hotel is the food! It really made our skiing experience so much better knowing we had a lovely (usually four-course) meal to enjoy in the evening. Every night we had something different and it was always freshly cooked and restaurant quality. We were never served the 'potato on a bed of rice' meal described in other reviews. We did have the cheese fondue, but this was served with a selection of cold meats and French bread and we were given the option to have an alternative meal if we'd preferred.

In summary, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area. You won't be disappointed!
