For our wintersport we stayed in Hotel Fleur des Neiges. They succeeded in what no other ski-hotel we've ever stayed in France succeeded in: a nice lobby where people actually sat in front of the fireplace after skiing, of before or after dinner. The rooms looked really French Chalet style, with a lot of wood, so that was nice. We had a bathtub, which we enjoyed, because we thought the outdoor swimming pool was a bit cold after skiing a long day. But some people did enjoy the swimming pool. The sauna smelled a bit when we arrived, but was actually ok when we used it.
Dinners are tasty, very French and they're beautifully decorated. But it's a set menu, you can make some changes in the morning, but usually it was published after we left. One day the waiter noticed I didn't eat the union soup. So he arranged me a salad. The other day another waiter noticed I didn't eat the mushroom soup, but he did nothing. But I was also too modest to ask for something else. And, breakfast was very good. A lot of fresh and/or homemade stuff to choose from: fruits, fromage blanc, breads, jams and squeeze your own orange juice.
There is a shuttle service to the ski lifts. On the way back you can call them to pick you up. Since our native language and of most of the staff isn't English, that sometimes gave some confusion. But in the end, we always have been picked up. So, no worries! To walk to the center of Morzine, only takes a couple of minutes.
If we go back to Porte du Soleil, we would go back to Fleur des Neiges. So, we would recommend it. It was everything we needed for our ski holiday.
