This hotel is not 5 star luxury however it is clean and tidy and minutes from the Pleny lift. We actually found that when returning from the slopes you could ski pretty close.

Josette is very welcoming and her staff bend over backwards to help you.

Breakfast is a little cosy but there is a good choice of the basics and enough for a belly full of stodge to hit the slopes with.

There is a sauna downstairs which is very nice after a days skiing needs warming up when you get back so allow 20 mins.

It is roughly 1 mins walk from Morzines centre where there are a few good restaurants.

When you go to a ski vacation one of the most important things you need to look for is the location of the accommodation, and the hotel Igloo has it! Within 2 minutes walk from Pleney and Super Morzine telecabins (gondolas), and 1 minute from the center of the town, this is where it should be. Add a good moutain view from the window and you got it. Other than that, the host lady is very friendly, breakfast is simple, but has all you need to start your day with fresh coffee, baguets, cereals and more. We got the regular room, not the studio, which was not too big (saying the least), but for 3 guys on ski vaction we had all we need: good hot shower and a bed. Too bad there is no news channel in English in the TV. We used the shared kitchen which was okay, and you don’t need to clean it afterwards. If you happen to be in town when the local ice hockey team is playing, do not miss it. Well worthwhile, and you can ask for the hotel’s ticket (there is one ticket which the visitors can use. Ask at the reception).

This is not really a hotel as they do not provide lunch or dinner and there are very limited public areas and no bar. However, it is a very good family-run pension or B&B with 31 guest rooms, conveniently located within 350m of the centre of Morzine; 350m from the Pleney lifts (to Les Gets) and 325m from the Super Morzine lift (to Avoriaz) and both of which sell lift passes. The hotel is a 5 storey chalet-style building, with open air guest parking and limited garage parking to the rear.

On the ground floor there is a small sitting room with coffee tables, sofas and a fireplace, to the left as you enter the hotel, opposite to the main reception desk. This is also the only place within the hotel where you can access the slow, but free, WiFi.

On the lower ground floor there are two small breakfast rooms with good self-service breakfast of cereals, breads, pastries, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts, fruit juices, tea and coffee with the facilities to boil eggs. On this level there are also the ski lockers and boot racks. Boot warmers are installed, but would perhaps benefit from being left on for longer in the mornings.

There is also a sauna and fitness room, which we did not have the chance to use. From this level you also access the car park and the rear entrance for the ski room, which is open 24 hours a day with a key pad.

There are guest rooms on the ground floor but they are mainly located over the 3 upper floors and most have balconies. The main road to the front of the hotel (Route de la Combe a Zore) is busy during the day, but reasonably quiet at night. However, there is road noise in the rooms facing the road, even when the electronically operated shutters are closed, so it is therefore better to request the quieter rooms to the rear of the hotel.

For skiers there is always hot water, a small bath and some rooms have a separate WC. The rooms have reasonable storage and hanging space, a desk, reading lights and plenty of hot radiators. There are no safes in the rooms (for passports, cash or iPads) and only a single key per room, which also operates the ski locker. We therefore found it easier to take our room key with us each day.

The hotel guests during our stay were a mixture of nationalities - British, Dutch, French and Russian; slightly frustratingly, given the number of British guests, the TV only has French language channels, with no international news channels. You are also unable to access the local ski information in order to check which lifts and runs are open on TV channel 800 Morzine in your room, again this is only available in the hotel sitting room. When we had a problem late one night with our room key Madame could not have been more helpful - we would very happily return again to the Hotel Igloo, in winter or summer.

Room Tip: Request the quieter rooms to the rear of the hotel.

I visited Morzine early in the season for a long weekend with a couple of mates. We found l'Igloo through an online bookings website and were impressed by the location and the price (esp as breakfast was included!). This was a last minute booking and so we weren't sure what the quality of the hotel would be.

As it turned out, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was sizable, with en-suite facilities. The beds were comfortable, and we had a balcony. The breakfast was typical buffet continental faire, tasty and good fuel for a day on the slopes, excellent value as it was included in the price of the room. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. There is a ski/snowboard room with lockers for your equipment.

The only minor gripe is that the bath has a shower head but no wall attachment or shower curtain, but anyone with a desperate need for a shower can use the one in the small gym in the basement of the hotel.

All in all, this is a lovely little hotel, and I would definitely stay again, in fact we are considering it for our trip next year!

Room Tip: Triple room was one double bed and a pair of bunks, so make sure you shotgun the double on arrival!

Confortable, very nice, cheap and near lifts. We were in Hotel Igloo during last two summers for 2 weeks with our bikes. I think we'll come back in the samo hotel for next mountainbike holidays in Morzine and maybe also for ski. Hotel Igloo is a wonderful Hotel in a wonderful place!
We moved in all Portes du Soleil by our bikes starting from Morzine.

We stayed in both January and March ( second time with a group of friends ) and enjoyed the same friendly and attentive hospitality. The hotel is undergoing a gradual process of refurbishment and the refurbished rooms are a huge improvement.
Breakfast is still varied and of good quality and the location is ideal for the pleney lift and town centre. Our friends rated both the hotel and resort and have pledged to return.
