“Ideal for a weekend break”
Reviewed 16 April 2008

Stayed here as part of a stag do - or more like a boys weekend skiing. We had great snow and a fantastic time.

The hotel appears to be far from the centre of morzine but is a short walk for restuarants in the evenings - having said that you need not leave the hotel in the evenings as the food is very good and there is a good bar also. The bus stops outside the hotel to take you to all the main ski lifts to Les Gets and Avoriaz.

The rooms were pretty basic but ideal for us. Most imoportantly they were clean and had lovely views. If i had been travelling with my wife dont think she would have liked it hugely. The sauna was nice, the jacuzzi was luke warm and the pool was freezing - it did go outside also!

There were lots of children at the hotel and they all seemed to have a great time.

In summary a decent price for a reasonable nothing too swish but basic hotel in an ok locaiton in Morzine.

We've been staying at petit Dru for 1 week in March 08 with two children, a 6m-baby and a 3y-todler.
The nursery is large, quiet with profesionnal staff.
the Room was large, the meals and the staff is excellent.
unfortunately the restaurant service opens only at 7.30 pm at night, which is pretty late for children.
The hotel is NOT Ski-in Ski-out -> there is a bus system that is convenient.
I recommend it as a good alternative to Club Med for families : It is less expensive but it's also less idealy situated as you need to take navettes, and the service is less integrated. As a plus, it's very quiet - there were only 4 children with us at the nursery, whereas at club med there are sometimes up to 80 children the same age...

We stayed at this hotel in Morzine in early February 2008 for a 3 day ski break. We booked a standard room via the hotel website directly after reading previous reviews on TripAdvisor (which is fine as long as you can read some basic French).

The room turned out to be small but perfectly formed. The hotel has just been refurbished, and the room decor is lovely, with good storage, and a cute bathrooom. The standard is better than a good 3 star, and very very clean (an essential in my mind).

The location of the Le Petit Dru is spot on. You are 5 minutes walk from the centre of Morzine, and all the rooms have balconies with views over the town (which is very picturesque). The town has a lot of good restaurants, to suit all pockets, and is heavily dependent on well-heeled British holidaymakers which means you can find quite a few places which do great pizza and beer as a staple. There are also some lovely coffee shops (try "Monty's", named after the resident bulldog who is just gorgeous), and a great spa massage shop called "Massage Du Monde" - perfect after a hard day on the slopes.

From a ski perspective, you are 10 minutes walk from the SuperMorzine lift which takes you to the Morzine ski area which has good beginners and intermediate slopes. You are also 50 yards from the free ski bus (navette) which takes you to the much higher neighbouring resort of Avoriaz, which has better slopes for intermediate and advanced skiers / boarders. We spent our time in Avoriaz, which has fantastic restaurants, and tends to have better snow than Morzine because of the higher altitude.

But, as the title of this review suggests, the main reason we loved Le Petit Dru, was because the staff and food are wonderful. The restaurant waiters were polite, helpful with our poor French, and obviously pride themselves on making sure their customers have a good culinary experience. We were staying on a half board basis, which meant that breakfast and dinner were included in the price. Breakfast is a very comprehensive buffet, and dinner was a fondue one evening, and then a 3 course meal with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian options for the other 2 evenings. You also get a half litre of wine thrown in for free, which was just enough for a nightcap after a tough day's skiing.

We would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want a good quality (not luxury) hotel, with well designed facilities, and brilliant staff and food to make you feel looked after. Great value.

A party of 4 of us stayed at Le Petit Dru for 8 nights and it was fantastic!

The location was perfect, with it being less than 5 mins walk into the centre of Morzine and the free shuttle bus to Avoriaz (where the best snow and skiing can be found) stopping right outside the hotel.

The hotel has ski hire facilities on site which is really handy. There is also a lovely little pool, sauna and jacuzzi on site. The pool is half outdoors and half indoors which is quiet novel.

The rooms are great, really clean, pretty, serviced really promptly and nice and warm. The bar area is comfortable and relaxed and the hotel also has its own pub which opens a few nights of the week.

Fiona - Dublin
The staff were extremely friendly which made the stay even better, in particular the manager Monsieur Baud (who is also a local ice hockey star!). The food was great (especially the creme brulee), varied and there was lots of it. The unlimited wine and beer was also a bonus. One thing said though it is not an ideal place for vegetarians as there is a lot of meat and fish on offer.

All in all we would struggle to find a bad thing to say about this hotel and believe me we are super fussy!

Would certainly stay here again in the future.

A group of 6 of us spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in this hotel. The rooms were small but comfortable, and most importantly, clean. Each had an en suite and Sky TV. We only booked the hotel on the Thursday prior to departure having waited to see the snow conditions, and suspect this is one of the reasons we ended up with smaller rooms as the hotel was almost full.

We opted for the half board option and the meals were superb, especially the dinner, with an unlimited (and free!) supply of wine and beer. The service was also excellent with very friendly French (local?)staff. We were going to eat out one night, but the food was so good in the hotel we decided not to bother.

The hotel had a small swimming pool and sauna and jacuzzi which we also made use of. The ski and boot room was very spacious with plenty of seating and room to put skis and boots, and they even have their own ski hire on the premises - though this was shut when we arrived at midday on the Friday.

The location was ideal, with the free bus service to the Prodains Cable Car and Lifts (about 5 minutes journey) stopping right outside the door. These lifts take you straight up into Avoriaz where the best skiing could be found the weekend we stayed. You could as easily get the bus into town and the Morzine lifts. From the hotel it was a short walk into the main part of town where the liveliest bars were.

We flew into Geneva from Heathrow, and the journey in our hired car too about 75 minutes door to door, making it ideal for a weekend's skiing.

Lastly, when we came to pay the bill, we could not believe the value at about 80 euro (£50) per person per day. Great value.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel or go back.

Stayed at the Petit Dru with a New York ski club. The hotel was lovely - nice clean rooms, comfortable common areas and a very helpful staff. We had breakfast and dinners in the hotel. Excellent variety and quality of food - not to mention unlimited beer and wine with meals.

They have a spacious ski and boot room and the ski bus stop is just outside the hotel front door - very convenient to the Avoriaz cable car and a short ride to the lifts for the Morzine area. Looking forward to going back next year.
