After a few years of Austrian Tyrol holidays we thought we would try the mountains, French Alps style. Big mistake. The walking was fine but the let down was Le Petit Dru. The problem with hotel star ratings is they account for facilities and not service or standards. No way is this a 4 star hotel, however you judge it. Bedrooms are basic and small. The balcony helps. Bathrooms are minute and any swung cat would have no chance. The showers are decent but there is no bath. Fittings are Alpine wood. Public areas are huge and charmless. We booked Half Board through a travel company which meant we had to endure some of the worst breakfasts in any hotel, never mind a 4 star hotel. Want eggs, then cook them yourselves !! Literally. In a 4 star hotel. Otherwise ham and cheese it is, every day. Want poached eggs, no, not possible. Dinner was also hit or miss. The lowlight being a lump of lamb with a plate full of kidney beans served as the only veg. Yes, the hotel has a pool, sauna etc but signs of wear and tear are everywhere, suggesting the hotel management is happy to make do with the transient coach trippers who make up the majority of guests. Staff are helpful, especially in the restaurant but even they cannot drag a hotel full of 3 star mediocrity up to Austrian standards. If you want genuine 4 star hospitality, head for Austria.

We've been staying here during summer (July) 2017. We booked a family room (2 adults + 2 children) and received a renovated 25m2 room. It included a master bed + sofa converted to a bed and a separate bed. There wasn't a lot of free space and the bathroom was quite tiny but appreciated a balcony with a nice view on the Morzine valley. The hotel was (partly) renovated with new panelling and lighting (this made the door extremely heavy = almost no noises heard!). Bathroom was new also. Despite the wooden panelling in the restaurant, it does give a cantine feel yet the maitre d'hotel was very pleasant. Food was good but bear in mind the local preferences for meat and cheese. A good hotel!

Back from a wonderful 5 day retreat with Nell from yoga forever (which I can also highly recommend). The hotel couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. The rooms were clean with wonderful views over Morzine, the food was delicious and altogether it was a fabulous trip Thank you to all the staff at Le Petit Dru who looked after us so well.

Our room on the ground floor looking towards the valley was outstanding. Solid pine finish with beautiful en-suite, huge wardrobes, comfortable beds, safe, TV. Everything you could want - with a balcony and stunning view!

Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Both impressive and hearty, perfect after a day on the slopes. The spread for breakfast was vast: pancakes/pastries, breads, eggs, sausage/bacon, cheese, cereal, fruits and more!

The hot tub and pool were nice to relax in after skiing. Sauna and steam room were also good.

Walk to Super Morzine and Pleney lifts is less than 10 mins, but the free A bus stops close by, you can get to both Morzine town or the Prodains Express (direct to Avoriaz).
