Hi - a group of us stayed for 3 nights and the hotel is OK. The room was small and basic but the bathroom small and the shower tiny. Lucky that I am very thin but if you dropped the soap a problem. No soap dish. The staff were great and very helpful providing champagne glasses and putting candles on a cake.
The funny thing about the place is that the dining room is in one building, kitchen in another and therefore the poor staff spend a lot of time running with the plates etc across a drive. Not an issue when we were there as no snow on the ground. Could be fun when snowing. irritating step to and from dining room - we all fell up or down it at some stage. I agree with other reviewers that it is not in Morzine and the buses are only every 1/2 hour to Ardent and it is not an easy walk to the bridge in ski boots.Without skiis the walk into town is not a problem but with them hard work even for the fit.
We did get a tea urn provided for breakfast and tea and it did speed up the process of getting tea. Cakes were good. We only had 2 meals as it was the staff night off on the Tuesday and they were good but not very warm. Scrambled egg on the Wed am. had too much salt in and was inedible.
Cleaning though not their strong point - some stains on the landing had been there for the whole of our stay. I also agree with reviewer that skiis and boots were quite old.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Hotel enjoys superb mountain views and a fantastic location on the 'Sunny Side' of resort at the Morzine / Montriond border. It is close to the Super Morzine Gondola, and a 5-7 min walk to the suspension bridge which accesses the bars, shops and Gondola. We run private minibuses to shuttle you to and from the slopes during the day if you prefer not to walk. They are especially good for those that want to ski the Pleney slopes at the other end of town, but not so necessary for those that want to ski Super Morzine and the main Portes du Soleil area. The Ridge enjoys fantastic panoramic views looking out over the whole of Morzine and up into the mountains. The hotel has 30 ensuite bedrooms and a lovely modern, contemporary design with a rather chic looking bar and restaurant. There is a large sun terrace offering the same wonderful views of Morzine. ... more less
