Have just returned from a brilliant 4-day break with friends, staying at The Hotel Ridge. Everything about the hotel is great, rooms basic but clean and perfectly adequate. Ok, the showers are a bit small but par for the course in ski hotels. The food, both range and quality was excellent, and the breakfasts cooked to order are very welcome before a long day on the slopes. The staff are very young, but extremely enthusiastic and hard-working and can't do enough for you. Particular thanks to Matt, our rep, for all his help and for a very entertaining cheese and wine evening! The shuttle bus service to and from the lifts works very well, the staff make a point of coming round to the dinner tables each evening to check what time you want to book for and they are very punctual. I really can't say a bad word about the Hotel Ridge and would thoroughly recommend it to to anyone looking for a great value ski location. Thank you!

Room Tip: We were in the quad room above the restaurant in the annex, perfect for a group of 4.

Well what can I say about Hotel Ridge? Cannot fault the Staff (Matt & Co) the service was impeccable and the food fantastic, you may say that it is run by youngsters but no way did they let us oldies down. The rooms were just the right size and all you needed considering you spend all day out on the slopes and most of the nights in the bars. The wine tasting evening was a huge success and a way to get people mingling. The shuttle bus service provided by the IGOSki staff was always on time and they would even go out of their way to make additional trips/some out of hours for a small tip for the driver (which was never asked for but we appreciated the flexibility) we went for 4 days and wished it was longer, we would definitely stay here again and book with IGOSki.

We have just got back from a week skiing , a party of 9 , 4 adults and 5 children aged 7 to 13 .
I'm finding it difficult to say anything negative about this hotel , staff , ski hire and skiing .
The young hotel staff were great , helpful and hard working , food outstanding . You really couldn't of asked for anything more . Lots of great choice for skiing with the portes du soleil ski pass . We will definitely be returning .

Stayed at the Ridge in Feb Half Term for 4 days/3 nights, booked package deal through IGOSKI. The whole holiday went very smoothly: flights, transfer, check-in, getting to slopes etc. The organisation really maximised our time on the slopes - we left early on Sunday morning and were skiing by about midday. We then had 2 full days and a slightly shorter last day (our choice as we wanted to look around Morzine town) before flying back on Wednesday night.

The hotel surpassed our expectations. Basic, but very clean (room cleaned every day), good hearty meals including a cooked breakfast option, tea and cakes and 3 course dinner. Nice atmosphere in the bar which had the Winter Olympics on the big screen. Our kids loved the mocktails! The best thing was the staff - there were lots of them, and all were attentive and professional in a friendly and relaxed way.

Other things to mention are the boot room available and the very useful minibus to / from the Pleney lift in the morning and evening.

We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: We had a quad room which had more than enough space. Toilet / Shower room would have been tricky if...

This was a surprise trip for my 50th birthday, so was made more special by having good friends with me. That said, the holiday could have been made worse by poor accommodation and dire service. These certainly do not apply to The Ridge imho.
Firstly, to answer some of those who've put negative reviews on here;
Yes it isn't ski-in / ski-out, but then it doesn't advertise itself as such. If you want this convenience do your research better and pay a couple of hundred pounds more for it !
Yes it's not in the centre of Morzine. Again it doesn't say that it is and for those who crib that it's too far out of town, well you are either a) Lazy, b) incompetent or c) unadventurous.

It took us no more than 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the suspension bridge, which then gives you access to the Super Morzine gondola and from there the whole of the Avoriaz area. A further 5 minutes walk through, what is a lovely, French alpine town and you are at the Pleney gondola with access to all the Morzine and Les Gets runs. I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks that a 15 minute walk is "too far" has to be bone idle.
If you are not capable of walking then The Ridge offers a free shuttle mini-bus to The Pleney 3 times in the morning from 8.30am and the same on the afternoon from 4.00pm. All they ask is that you reserve your spot on the bus the night before by adding your name to the list which is left at the bar. If anyone says that they are not capable of doing this or it's too much hassle, then you are incompetent !
Thirdly, if neither walking nor taking the FREE shuttle mini-bus are your thing then the local authority for the PDS area puts on a free bus [called a Navette]. The stops in both directions are literally right outside The Ridge and the bus stops in the middle of town, just a 3 minute walk to the Pleney gondola. It's a good idea to have a few basic words of French just to be courteous to the local driver and fellow passengers, but typically us Brits expect everyone else to fit in with us. If this doesn't appeal to you, then you are clearly an unadventurous traveller who should probably stay home with your pipe and slippers.
Anyway enough ranting and down to some more factual information about The Ridge.
Rooms;
We were a little spoilt as I think we were given the largest one in the two buildings. Prolays has clearly been a small apartment at some point, as it has a large sitting / dining area with small kitchen. Bathroom was of 'average' size, certainly not pokey or tiny, but you wouldn't get a roll -top bath in there ! The bedroom was a perfectly adequate size unless you planned to hold a festival in there or something. Our rooms were tidied every day and were, on the whole, clean and comfortable. On the odd day, our bins were not emptied. A minor thing which wouldn't spoil a holiday. We did check out a couple of the rooms our friends were staying in and certainly they were not as palatial as our room, but they seemed comfortable and adequately sized.
Food;
I agree with a comment made by a fellow contributor on here and travel buddy [system-g] the arrangement for serving could be improved. The kitchen is in the main building and the dining room in the annexe. The poor staff have to contend with dashing back and forth between both buildings to keep on top of things. The food itself, I thought, was excellent. Tasty and interesting with something different every day for breakfast, cakes or biscuits with afternoon tea and in the evening. There was a full range of cereals, toast, tea, coffee, juices as well as yoghurt's, cheese, ham and pastries. Hot options were also available every day [except Wednesday the chef's day off]. These included bacon, sausage, all types of eggs, hash browns and porridge. Honestly if anyone can say that they couldn't find something suitable to eat for breakfast, then I'd like to get a look in your cupboards / fridge. You must live on a diet of cardboard !
Evening meals were very varied, interesting and tasty with dishes such as Beef Bourgignon, Tartiflette, Pan-fried duck breast, Herb crusted pork with pesto tagliatelle to name a few. Always 3 courses with starters like garlic mushroom crostinis, pea & mint soup, paysanne salad, roasted red pepper and goats cheese tart. Desserts were equally delightful with pannacotta, chocolate brownies, sticky toffee pudding to name just a few.
One of our party was vegetarian and it never seemed an issue for the staff / chef to prepare them something different but equally tasty looking. This was not "chalet catered" in the strictest sense, so drinks with the evening meal were not included. However this wasn't an excuse for The Ridge to rip you off with exorbitant charges. A decent bottle of wine typically cost between 13 and 16 euros.
TOP TIP; You could get a caraffe of wine in the bar for 10 euros and take this through to dinner with you, if you wish.
Service;
In this regard I can't fault the young team at The Ridge enough. They were always pleasant and helpful. Chatty, friendly and willing to have some banter with our group even though we seemed to take over the place and use it as our 'new home'. Thanks guys you made the trip more enjoyable and relaxing.
I have to give special thanks to Milly, the Hotel Manager as she went out of her way to help me after I had an accident slope-side and broke my ankle.
Although not strictly relevant to this review of The Ridge, I would also like to give a big shout out to the medical staff at the Pleney gondola and Le Socali medical centre in Morzine for looking after me so well post my backside 180 off the chair lift :-)
All-in-all I would say that The Ridge hotel was a fun, comfortable, relaxing and friendly place to stay in what is a fantastic snow resort. What more can you ask for when you take a holiday?

Room Tip: Prolays seems to be the biggest of the rooms at The Ridge, so if this is a 'must-have' for y...

We have just returned from a week staying at the Ridge Hotel run by Alpine Elements (was part of the group with Jane and the father of the child in our group).

It was our second trip with Alpine Elements. The first was 100% faultless from booking to return.

The staff and hotel are absolutely amazing. Yes, rooms are a bit basic as with many French hotels, but they offer all you need and are spotless. Staff are always on hand to help and really go out their way to make you feel comfortable. The bar prices are reasonable for the area too!

The food is really nice and if you don't eat something on offer, they will give another option.
Only improvement with the meals is to try and get all plates out for a group at the same time. On one occasion the first person to receive their meal had finished eating it before the last person received their plate. Not a biggie, but something to improve on :)

I have a few minor issues with Alpine Elements head office in the UK and poor information on their website, but will take that up directly with them.
Just be aware that the hotel is not in Morzine - it's about 80 feet across the border into Montriond. Having known this at the time of booking, it may have influenced our decision booking due to childcare requirements.
However, I can not fault the hotel staff and how they really went out their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible and making sure we could to and from the nursery with the push chair and our boards. Nothing was too large or too small for them to do.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday and if our son is not in tow, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I would also recommend the hotel to anyone who doesn't mind being a little out the hustle and noise of town.

One tip - unless you really want to go to Avoriaz daily or more than twice a week, don't upgrade to the full area pass. Morzine & Les Gets have more than enough piste, off piste and parks to keep you entertained for a week. A day pass from the Super Morzine Gondola office at the suspension bridge is only €39 (2014) for a day and is worth a trip up. Some other guests suggested taking the free bus to Ardent and going up that way (over the Stash).

I have just returned from a week in Morzine. I was part of a group of 11 adults and one child staying at The Ridge. Having read the reviews on here before our departure we feared the worst. However, the hotel exceeded my expectations. Rooms were basic but spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate. The food was excellent. All the staff were great and went out of their way to help. The hotel is situated on the very edge of Morzine but a free shuttle bus is available to take guests to the slopes and back. The shuttle bus even went via the nursery so we could drop off the youngest member of our group each day. The free Morzine bus also stops right outside the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

The Hotel enjoys superb mountain views and a fantastic location on the 'Sunny Side' of resort at the Morzine / Montriond border. It is close to the Super Morzine Gondola, and a 5-7 min walk to the suspension bridge which accesses the bars, shops and Gondola.We run private minibuses to shuttle you to and from the slopes during the day if you prefer not to walk. They are especially good for those that want to ski the Pleney slopes at the other end of town, but not so necessary for those that want to ski Super Morzine and the main Portes du Soleil area.The Ridge enjoys fantastic panoramic views looking out over the whole of Morzine and up into the mountains. The hotel has 30 ensuite bedrooms and a lovely modern, contemporary design with a rather chic looking bar and restaurant.
