We stayed at the Renardiere in early March. The chalet is located on the out skirts of town with a 10 to 15 minute walk into town. So be aware that you really need to leave your skis and boots somewhere in town. Therefore I suggest that you do not hire your ski package with Alpine Elements whom monopolise the chalet. Use a Ski hire company in Morzine that stores your equipment for you for the length of your stay. You will also have a far greater choice of newer equipment. This is by far the best option. There are places that offer storage for your own equipment for around 20 euros per week near the bottom of the Pleney lifts. You will have some time available on the Sunday afternoon to sort this out. We didn’t rush off to ski that first afternoon! A word of warning! If you are or thinking of hiring your ski equipment from Alpine Elements. Their shop is on the other side of town. AE will run a bus to collect your gear and you can leave it to be picked up at the chalet at the end of your stay, which was excellent. In my opinion they do not have the quality to offer anything above their discovery (mid range) level of hire. So don’t waste your money as I did on performance equipment.
The chalet team all worked very hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The food was great. The room was small but adequate for three adults to share.
Alpine Elements are rather naughty by calling the Renardiere a hotel, so charge for wine with meals. But then have a chef’s night off, so then it becomes a chalet, the best of both worlds for AE, but not their clients.
Don’t use the bar if want a ‘on tap’ beer it is simply awful, flat and top price, stale beer in the pipes through lack of use etc. Try the microbrewery bar Bec Jaune, as real ale fans this place was great. The first bar you pass from the chalet into town. A jug of beer and nachos after skiing filled a corner, not cheap but what is on a ski trip! So many a night was had in there. The Hakka bar for après ski was also ok, cheaper beer in happy hour, but everyone has their favourites.
