“So much more than Avoriaz....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2013

We have spent years doing hotels, self catering apartments but this year went for a catered Chalet....I will never go back.
A really warm welcome by the staff, the two lovely chalet girls were really lovely, we were brought tea in bed in the morning, quite delightful.
We had a hot breakfast which to be honest was a little sparse, but tasty nether less, and were driven down into Morzine.
The Chalet was full, it was Christmas week, we shared our meals with four other families who were lovely and in fact very funny, we had a lot of laughs.
The meals were ok, not amazing but some were tasty, the chef informed us he was given a very small budget hence the food not been amazing, but most nights it was tasty.
Christmas day was the traditional turkey meal, there were certainly not enough of everything although I had some seconds would have been nice and I didn’t even get a pig in blanket !!

The Room its self was a traditional chalet with a lovely ensuite that was awfully cold the radiator appeared to have lost the will to live, but the White company waffle bath robes and lovely Toiletries were a definite brownie point. There was a hot tub which was bubbly and warm soothing your aches at the end of the day.
We sorted out are own transport from the airport as it was far cheaper than they were offering.

As for Morzine, it was so much nicer than Avoriaz, loads to do and some really great restaurants’ that didn’t feel nowhere near as expensive as Avoriaz. We really enjoyed the whole Apres ski.

This chalet is great for families, couples anyone really, I had older children 21,26 it was great for them, they went off in the evening with no complaints.

We flew Swiss Air into Geneva ,the best part of that is you don't pay for any ski bags or boots bags, I managed to get 5 suitcases with out a penny extra charge, however on the way back only 3 bags they collared me !!!

Overall we had a pleasant time, would we go back, yes probably but I think I would find something a little more expensive because I can !! .I am not sure those poor chalet girls would have got through the season they were exhausted after 17 of us !!

Room Tip: The rooms are all lovely,we slept in the annexe with our own stair way from the nibbles room in the...

We had a lovely few days at Le Chateau in Morzine. The manager, Stephanie, who manages a few chalets in Morzine was friendly and knowledgable and our chalet staff were great-really friendly and helpful! The food was great-a good mix, and they were helpful if you wanted an alternative. The house wine-free all through dinner-was also very good! We had hot breakfast every day plus lots of bread/yogurts etc too.
The chalet was very clean and the beds comfortable! There is a hot tub in a covered area outside.
The chalet is a bit of a walk into the centre (about 15mins-up hill on the way back) but it really doesn't matter as the chalet staff give lifts to and from the ski lifts.
As others have said, the layout is unusual, with some bedrooms sharing bathrooms, but we had a family room in th annex which was ensuite so great! The two bedrooms off the dining room are noisy so just be aware which room you book.
Overall I would definitely recommend for a comfortable, good value stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex are private and quiet

We had a superb holiday here. The layout of the chalet was unusul but worked perfectly for us. I was a little worried about sharing bathrooms but it was never a problem and there was rarely a time that you had to wait for a shower - all rooms and bathrooms were immaculate.

The staff were fabulous - extremely accomodating and very friendly - and the chef was great. We didn't have a single bad meal - all the food was of an extremely high standard.

Although the chalet is a little out of the town, the walk in was not a problem but the walk back uphill kept us fit!! We only did this on the staff night off as the rest of the time we were driven in and picked up as needed.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this chalet. It was not the most plush that I have ever stayed in but it was the friendliest and the cleanest with the most comfortable beds :-)

Just returned for a week in Chalet Le Chateau. We were a party of 7, including 3 children, + 4 adults. Had a great time. All the staff were so helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The meals were perfect, plenty of wine, and drinks before dinner with lovely canapes. Blair drove us to the slopes each day, and collected when requested. the chalet is well placed for skiing either in Morzine or Avoriaz, and the bus for either passes very close by. No complaints from any of us- we enjoyed the fun with the other guests. It is not the most luxurious chalet you will ever visit, no en-suite etc, but there was never any problem with bathrooms during our stay. Would recommend it to those who want a great place to stay, without being over posh- which will not break the bank. Good value for money, and all the Staff make you feel very welcome.

We have stayed in this Chalet on two occasions now (in January 2006 and 7 respectively) and I would highly recommend it. The accommodation is to a good standard with comfortable beds. it's true you have to share a bathroom with others depending on your choice of room but it's not an insurmountable problem. We were staying as a part of about 6 so it was easy to agree a routine. The quality of service from Steph and her team was excellent - a really warm welcome on arrival - nothing was too much trouble - and all the ski passes and equipment hire were sorted for us on arrival. The quality of the food was also excellent, both at breakfast and dinner with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. The cup of tea in the morning was a really nice touch. I would disagree that the website description is misleading. It is indeed a short ten minute walk into town - after trecking around the slopes all day this short walk hardly represented a herculean effort in my view. The location is also quiet and peaceful - perfect for a good night's sleep. Overall I would definitely recommend this Chalet - it offers excellent value for money and is reasonably priced. If you fancy an additional level of indulgence I would recommend the Chalet Alp Inn in the centre, which is also owned by the same company, Ski Purple Goat. The accommodation is luxury standard so it's more expensive - that's where we're heading this year!

We booked this catered ski chalet on the strength of the information supplied on the web site. However when we arrived we were very disappointed. We are a group of 4 x 40+ girls and we were booked into a 4 bed family room. 2 of us had to share a double bed and the other two had to sleep in children's bunk beds. There was one bathroom on the floor which was shared by 8 people! The lounge was in a separate building as the chalet was effectively 3 separate units. The room where we had our "afternoon tea" and "pre dinner drinks" was very small and pokey and there was not enough room for everyone. People had to sit on the stairs! On the plus side the food was very good. We were also told the chalet was just 5 minutes walk from the centre of town. Wrong! It was in fact 15 minutes there and 20 minutes back up a steep hill! The chalet operator made herself very scarce and made no effort to talk to us about our dissatisfaction. She simply did not care. They do apparently have a chalet in the centre of Morzine but they need to make it absolutely clear on their web site and stop making false claims about how close this chalet is to town because it isn't. Other people staying there were also disappointed.

  • Liked — It was very clean and the food was very good
  • Disliked — It's location and room sizes and lack of bathrooms
