We stayed here whilst attending a family wedding. It was chosen on the strength of Trip Advisor reviews and it's close proximity to the reception venue. It's a friendly local but with hotel-standard rooms, clean and comfortable, with a tasty breakfast served by friendly staff. We didn't sample the restaurant menu, but there were plenty of diners who appeared to be happy with their fare. There was noise from the pub down the street, but there's not a lot the New Inn's landlord can do about it - at least he's keeping them out of his pub! Given the room rate we weren't expecting luxury and were pleasantly surprised. All that this typical Yorkshire village had to offer is within walking distance from The New Inn. -stunning scenery, canals, industrial heritage, walks, a train station, pleasant shops etc.

Booked family room at rear of pub - landlord said great for family. However we were not told about the pub opposite - The Shakespeare. This was v noisy all night. Lots of people outside the pub until well after midnight - shouting etc. with bottles being thrown in the road. Greeted in the morning by the sight of the landlord sweeping broken glass from the road.
The New Inn itself was shabby and a bit grubby but staff OK.

Room Tip: A room at the rear (off the main road) but beware of the noisy pub opposite (The Shakespeare).

Thanks to Dave, the owner! We rolled up quite late on a Sunday after a long 2nd day on the Pennine way. But just in time for an outstanding dinner with great beer and atmosphere. The rooms are great. All around a great experience with a very friendly staff and owner who even volunteered and gave us a ride back to the trailhead the next day. Would definitely stay again and recommend very highly. Reasonable rates and high standards!

We tend to call here in for a bite to eat when passing. It never fails to produce quality home cooked food at reasonable prices. Staff always friendly and very welcoming. Always a pleasure to visit this lovely pub/hotel.

We chose to stay here having unexpectedly being in the area with nowhere to stay.
We received a very friendly greeting from staff. Our room was very comfortable as was the bed. Our only criticism was that the bathroom had a carpet and tiles would have been much better.
The bar had a lovely atmosphere. We ate dinner which was fine.
The breakfast was lovely although we thought it was included- our mistake.
Overall- we would stay again and the big plus was the staff, especially ou smiley waitress.

We were originally going to stay here last October for the jazz festival with my elderly parents but unfortunately my husband had to have a triple by pass. Dan very kindly transferred our deposit for us to stay in March for which I was really looking forward

Rooms very nice but onto the main road if you are a light sleeper take ear phones because traffic is going all through the night, my parents hardly slept! Baths very high so awkward getting in & out they had to have a strip wash both nights, not good for the elderly!!

We were served breakfast the first morning by the chef due to shortage of staff, very friendly & food lovely cooked. The only criticism was one of each cereal & jam/marmalade what if 2 of us wanted the same, I had to ask for extra marmalade.

The first day we didn't have any heating so I put the bath towels over the bath very crumpled up but they were not changed, I felt it was a bit of inconvenience asking the duty manager for another set of towels: she said there should be a sign saying save the environment please put your towels inside the bath if you want them changed, but no there wasn't but in any case I think the chambermaid should of used her initiative & I only put them there because we didn't have heating to dry them!!! I was happy to say we did have heating the following day

We had made arrangements to eat in Leeds on the Monday but have full intentions to eat @ the New Inn on the Tuesday night but unfortunately the chef had fallen down the steps after breakfast on Monday so they had to have apparently a third chef in to cook. The manager was very apologetic & said the only things he couldn't cook was the gammon & the mussels, I really didn't have any faith in the explanation so we decided to eat in the Riverhead (Excellent Choice)

Pub could be a thriving business but I wouldn't be surprised if it loses a lot of trade to the Riverhead

We have stayed here twice and will be booking here again. Very pleased with the room and food. Good atmosphere in the bar.We have eaten in the restaurant one evening and there was plenty of choice. We were very glad that the New Inn was so well heated as both times we stayed the weather was very cold. We are looking forward to our next visit and warmer weather.
