“Fabulous hidden gem in Wales”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a night at Ynyshir Hall a few weeks ago and it really was magical. The offer at the time was dinner, bed and breakfast and if you booked 24 hours ahead they would give you the best room available. As it was midweek we ended up in the best suite which was fabulous with beautiful views of the grounds. Dinner was an 8 course tasting menu which was quite stunning - the restaurant really should have a Michelin Star!!! We sat down at about 8pm and didn't leave the table until after midnight - the timing of each course was perfect and it really was a gastronomic treat! Breakfast was delicious too and for a special occasion I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: Look for offers on the website and go for the best room available.

My wife and I spent just the one night here to celebrate a significant occasion. We have a property a few miles away and so know this exquisite part of Mid-Wales well, but to see it from the luxury of Ynyshir Hall gave it a new perspective.
The hotel and grounds are delightful - well appointed and tranquil and the staff friendly and welcoming. The room was everything we could have asked for and the evening meal (we took menu 2) a fascinating experience, both visually and in terms of taste. I cannot recommend Ynyshir Hall highly enough. It is perfection.

Really enjoyed our two night stay here, we hadnt booked dinner as I wasnt sure if it would be ok for our 7 year old son to eat in the restaurant, but it worked out really well. Yes it is expensive, but the whole experience from standard of service, the food, the quality of the rooms and the location made it worth it so I would recommend it highly.

My husband and I stayed at Ynyshir Hall for three nights for my birthday in June.
The hotel and grounds are very peaceful and tranquil. We enjoyed some wonderful walks in the very pleasant countryside and in the nearby RSPB sanctuary.
The room was very spacious but the bed was disappointing. Heavy blankets, not a quilt and the mattress did not fit the bed properly. Everything else had been upgraded! The bathroom was the last word in luxury. We were also a little disapponted not to have a kettle and tea and coffee facilities in the room or a fridge.
The views from the bedroom were fantastic.
The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed a wonderful massage in the wellness centre, but compared to the many other places I have had a massage, I felt it was a little expensive.

I visited this hotel for business back in 2010. If I knew trip advisor back then I would've definitely posted how happy I was staying there! All I can say is that is the most perfect hotel I have ever been to! It's a dream come true! Lively rooms, lovely garden, lovely food and their lovely dog Oscar is just a sweetheart.
I love it and if I could chose a hotel for my husband and I for our anniversary that would be it. My room was just heavily, spacious and perfect. I also knew that Richard Gere went there before. They also name the rooms after artists and it's just chic!
Keep it up!

I have planned a whole trip this year simply for the pleasure of returning to Ynyshir Hall - it feels like a home away from home and there has been a new chef added to the mix who is surely set to guarantee the dining room a Michelin star, if there's any justice... then there's the newly built "wellness" centre which will surely be a further oasis in this perfect setting. Proprietor Joan Reen runs a wonderfully welcoming establishment offering the best of everything - can't blame her for the weather!

Room Tip: Each room is uniquely suited to individual styles so I reckon, find your favourite....:) You'...

Stayed in Goya on a beautiful sunny weekend. Loved the bathroom and the spaciousness of the room. Very clean and one of the comfiest beds I've slept in. Such a peaceful hotel. Lovely little bar area. Owners lovely as was their Bernese Mountain dog Theo. thinking of going back very soon.

Ynyshir is a five star restaurant with rooms near the Snowdonia National Park, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. The Michelin Star restaurant at Ynyshir is one of Wales' best contemporary fine dining destinations and holds four AA rosettes - one of only two restaurants in Wales to hold this distinction. Michelin Star chef Gareth Ward serves alternative British tasting menus using the very best of Welsh and British produce. The menus showcase the best of Welsh ingredients following the seasons, such as Welsh Wagyu Beef and Anglesey Onions throughout the year, as well as locally foraged sea herbs from the estuary and greens from the woodland floor and Ynyshir's extensive gardens. During hunting season expect to see wild deer and local duck, grouse and partridge, and in summer Welsh Lamb from the Dyfi valley. Gareth and his team pickle, salt, ferment and preserve fruits, leaves and berries carrying the harvests through the winter and into the spring. Expect to see dishes such as 'Not French Onion Soup', 'Mackerel Sweet & Sour' and Gareths take on a Tiramisu all served alongside a carefully selected wine-list whilst overlooking the Cambrian mountains and Ynyshir's extensive gardens Ynyshir has a total of ten luxuriously furnished guest rooms, each with its own unique style and character. There are seven rooms within the main house and three deluxe rooms directly adjacent. Each guest room has an en-suite with a separate bath and shower and feature premium Temple Spa products. Most rooms offer views over the gardens and Cambrian Mountains. ... more   less
