We stayed at Dolforwyn for 1 night. It's really nicely set up, rooms were comfortable and we slept very well. The owners are really friendly and the food was just fab! Some of the areas could probably do with updating but apart from that, it's a really nice set up. They provided an honesty bar so you could buy drinks after the staff had finished for the evening, which was a really nice touch. We would stay there again.

I was working in Newtown for a couple of days so needed somewhere somewhere to stay for a single night.
The location is great, it's just off the main road and the building is well illuminated so it's easy to find. The main road is very quiet though so there's no noise to worry about.
The room was very comfortable, with decent wi-fi which is a must when working in this part of the country as there is no 3G coverage!
The decor of the rooms might be considered by some to be a bit dated, but personally I had no complaints.
I ate in the dining room in the evening and had a lovely 3 course dinner. Breakfast was fantastic too. All in all a very nice place to stay, I was made to feel very welcome.

If I'm working in the area again I'd definitely stay here.

Stayed here for one night whilst going to a local event. Owners are welcoming, though lady better than man. Rooms are clean, large, and airy, though decor could do with a bit of updating, good heating, bathroom clean too, though shower is the lowest I have ever seen, I'm 6 foot, and looked down on it. Bed was comfortable. Had large resident lounge with reasonably priced honesty bar. Breakfast was freshly cooked with great mushrooms, though it could have been a wee bit bigger. Overall it was pretty good and would use it again

I booked for just one night in order to attend an event nearby the following day. As a single traveller, I am resigned to paying inflated prices and then being given the smallest, meanest rooms available on many occasions. It was a real pleasure to find that not only was the room rate reasonable, but I had been upgraded to a twin room with a lovely view over the valley and hills.

I had not booked an evening meal, but was able to get one, with a choice of dishes offered. I chose an excellent boeuf bourgignon, which came with an abundance of fresh vegetables. Breakfast was cooked to order and served piping hot; a welcome change from the lukewarm, dried self-service rubbish that seems to be standard in so many hotels now.

The owners care about sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint. One of their policies is to use fresh local produce. This undoubtedly contributed to the high quality of the food (the tomatoes in my breakfast were among the sweetest and best tasting I have ever had!). Keith's cooking skills obviously were another important factor!

I would not hesitate to recommend Dolforwyn Hall to anyone looking for comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation. If you like greetings cards for all occasions, make sure to look at the ones made by Cheryl, which are displayed in the entrance hall. They are lovely and priced at less than many mass-produced cards in the shops.

Great value for money in the area and better than anything you will find for a similar price in Newtown.
Very clean. Good breakfast. The lady of the house was friendly and chatty.
Soulless and a bit stuffy and on a warm, bright and sunny day not a window or door in the place open to let the fresh air in.

In a beautiful peaceful setting, but easy to find from the Newtown-Welshpool road, this B and B was a former hotel and is fully licensed. Our room was tastefully furnished with a co-ordinated honeysuckle theme and with a firm mattress an armchair. The small, and rather cramped washroom had a shower, which could do with updating to a more efficient unit. Dinner was optional and you choose how many courses you want at different prices. Full Welsh b/fast set us up for the day, but I felt it a curious anomaly that what had been a former hotel (same owners) did not have decaf filter coffee or choice of teas, especially given the international clientelle, and the comprehensive wine list for those who liked a drink with their dinner. As the evening was chilly heating was switched on to be used as appropriate in individual guestrooms. We preferred our own room, despite the single armchair as the lounge was less cosy and rather bleak in furnishings. There was a table for games or spreading maps, and a good supply of local books for visitors to browse.

I was made to feel so welcome from my first phone call to confirm my booking. On arrival I was greeted warmly and shown to my room which was a delight with lovely views over the countryside and garden. My room was spacious, warm and spotless. I had a delicious evening meal and afterwards sat by a log fire in the lounge. I was sorry to be only staying one night but have recommended Dolforwyn Hall to my family.
