“Older hotel, not kept up - black mold!”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 2 days as part of our Explore Hiking trip. The hotel looks good from the outside, but is old on the inside. They have a nice pool, and food there was good. However, the big part of the stay involved staying in a room that contained very obvious black mold in the bathroom (see picture). My wife got sick here and missed a day of hiking (long way to go to miss a day!) and was not well for the rest of the trip. They did move us to another room the second night, but it was too late. The mold was so obvious, you would think they would have done something about it right away. The hotel would have been closed in Canada or the US in that condition.

We are really sorry what you have been through and we wish there was another way we could make it up to you but you had limited time with us. Here at Pataros, we try our best to make our guests as comfortable as possible, since we personally know how it feels to face problems especially during our vacations. As soon as you told us about the mold, we moved you to another room and shut down the room with the mold and the one upstairs causing the leakage. Those two rooms will be shut down for the rest of the season until the leakage is fixed. Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Best thing about this hotel is that it is slightly away from the road and village (2 minutes) so the setting is much quieter and more scenic. Other pensions/ hotels were right on the road. The garden is lovely with Jasmine and Bougainvillea. The pool area is nice. The mosque is near the hotel, but as others have mentioned, the prayer call can be heard throughout the village. I did not find it a problem and in fact I enjoyed hearing the prayer every day. Rooms are basic and cleaning is infrequent but accommodation is gd value for money especially with nice breakfast.

Hotel Pataros’s greatest asset must surely be the owner (Ozgur) and his brother (Engin)’s care and helpfulness. An extremely friendly, welcoming environment in this family-run hotel just a couple of minutes' walk from the rather delightful village of Patara. There is a lovely outdoor pool with bar/restaurant area (also a yoga sala at one end: I was with a yoga/meditation group for a week and chose to stay on for a week afterwards). The garden to the front is beautiful and fragrant.

Buffet breakfasts, served from 8-10 am, are very good (with varied daily hot ‘surprises’ to accompany the standard Turkish tomato, cucumber, cheese, egg, olive fayre). Food at lunchtime & in the evening (on request) is also more than just acceptable. Extremely efficient and attentive staff.

Downside is that the rooms are basic, poorly furnished and a touch jaded, yet certainly represent very good value for money (particularly favourable rates for group bookings: ask beforehand!). Cleaning is spasmodic but you can obtain fresh towels as required from the pool area, and toilet rolls from reception.

For the best rooms, choose second or third rooms (the ones on the first floor are not so hot!).

Room Tip: Avoid first floor rooms at rear. Second/third floor rooms best (the ones at the rear have a small...

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. This is a 25 years old place which has never been renoved. Old bathrooms, very cheaply furnished rooms, evrything in bad conditions (ex: the shower would not enter in its location, so you need to keep it in your hand, the closet doors do not close and open properly, no chair, nothing to hang clothes except for 2 holders in the broken cupboard.
The diner was less than average, even basic were bad.
Only the pool is ok, and the pool bar.
Won't return there, and won't return in Patara. I have been there 20 years ago and did not like it at the time, but now I thought it will be nicer and still away from the path. Well it did not change, everything is from the 90's, and except for 1 restauarnt, we could have good food.
Much better place to go while in Turkey, especially on the coast

Went to Patara to have a short break and relax.... That is just what we got in this hotel
Rooms are basic but clean, a little dated. Good value for money.
Ozgur and his family who run the hotel are very friendly and very, very helpful. They do anything possible for you to have a great time. As for me, I need something to eat before I go to sleep and asked if that was possible. Answer was yes straight away, and every evening I got a plate with bread, cheese, tomato / egg in the room. That's what I call service.
Thanks guys and we will be back again and recommend you to our friends in Dalyan.

Room Tip: Want a good hotel, value for money...LOOK NO FURTHER.

A charming and beautifully situated hotel with all facilities provided and if you ask they will go out of their way to satisfy your needs.
Set low on a hill above the village - accessible for the less fit, this delightful hotel is smoothly run by its owner/manager, Ozgur, his wife Jadar??, his brother Engin?? (forgive me if these names are wrongly spelled) and other family members. The hospitality is amazing, warm and friendly and family oriented. For the non Turkish speaker it is fair to mention at this point that Ozgur studied in the USA and has no difficulty in coping with English and other languages as well (and this applies to other family members too). But even with my fractured Turkish, I was understood and enjoyed a wonderful interaction with the non English speaking family members.
I did not stay in the hotel, but living close by, I was welcomed as if I was a resident and treated splendidly. They even accommodated the cat who would wander down from the house where I was staying.
The pool area is clean, pretty and peaceful, beautifully surrounded with bougainvillea and views up and down the valley. Fresh towels and pool beds are there as well as Turkish lounging areas. The village and the sea are close, though the facilities could persuade the very idle not to go anywhere very far from the hotel, with 2 pool tables, games, wifi connection, air conditioning, good home cooked food and delightful hoteliers to keep you entertained.
The regular Dolmus (village bus service) will, however take you, inexpensively, to other parts of the country and coast and is a short walk from the hotel and the village offers dining and bars within strolling distance of the hotel.
What could be more delightful than dining at the poolside with tasty, barbecued food, fresh vegetables, salads and the scent of wild thyme in the air. Try everything, it is all delicious and in generous proportions. The food is mainly Turkish, but they will cook just about anything you ask for and excellently too!
My thanks to Ozgur and his family and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a peaceful holiday, honeymooners to families with or without children. You will be well catered for in all aspects.
