Fron Tea House is set back against a canal walk – with its unspoilt gardens and unique interior and delicious food this should be a little gem of a place, instead it lacks customer service.
Today was my 4th visit and each time I have visited with different friends over the past year….whilst the food has been very good and reasonably priced, the service is lacking. The owner employs young waitresses/waiters and they do not seem to be able to interact or respond to the steady flow of customers coming through its door. The meet/greet is non-existent and customers constantly have to ring the bell to wait to be seated or even pay their bill. My friend asked if there was anything “gluten-free” on the menu and instead of being helpful she replied “NO”. It was not until I suggested maybe a salad and if she could improvise that the waitress said she would enquire. She fortunately returned to say they could do a Ham Salad which proved to be great and pleased my friend immensely.
It’s because of its location and indoor/ outdoor exterior that I return to this pretty little Tea Room and garden, with different friends, but I do feel that a “Front of House” is so important when employing young staff so as customers do return again and again as the food and location is faultless and today with its glowing log fire on such a wet and cool day it felt so warm upon entering but the staff did not.
