We went there tonight for food as we had heard it was under new ownership and the food was fantastic, I've eaten in most restaurants in pembrokeshire and this was one of the best meals I've had. I had the steak which was cooked perfectly with lovely home made chips my partner had the bangers and mash which she enjoyed too,,very polite staff with good atmosphere deffinatley going back again was very impressed! Only criticism would be that they could do with some music to improve the atmosphere more.

Hi Amy, many thanks for taking the time to write a review for us. We’re really glad you enjoyed your food and we also want to let you know that we have solved the music issue by purchasing an iPod system. Apologies this wasn’t set up in time for your first visit but it should be in full flow next time you come down.

Visited the Boars Head just 4 days after it opened under new management. Went in hungry after having no lunch and a long day, ordered food and was told there would be a 30 minute wait on food as it was busy which was fine. We ordered before the other family in our party and sat down with a drink and waited on our food. The bar and restaurant has been done up and looks great they have put a lot of effort into the appearance. The other family in our party got their food 5 to 10 minutes before the server came to us and explained that the dish that I had ordered had been dropped on the floor. At this point I was starting to get annoyed and asked for a refund on the entire order as I was so bored of waiting and and just wanted to leave with my rowdy 2 yr old. The server explained to me with a menu in hand that I could order another meal anything on the menu so I expressed my annoyance for the situation and looked for another choice. I decided on the advice of the server that I would have a steak at no extra cost. I again expressed my annoyance at having to wait, however about 10 minutes later both my meal and my partners and daughters meal arrived. To be honest the food was absolutely delicious, better than I expected, I started to feel bad at the way I reacted with the server so I made a point of apologising.

On the whole the experience was stressful partly due to the process of getting our food and also because of our very hungry 2 yr old. However this faded when we received our food and the steak was to die for and my partners bangers and mash was delicious. The food was fresh and excellent quality ingredients which resulted in a tasty meal. Before receiving my food I was adamant I would not be back however the food changed my mind very quickly.

I would recommend this pub very highly and hopefully by the time you go they have a more experienced and fluent service.

Hi Aaron, many thanks for taking the time to write a review for us. We are very sorry to hear of the issues you faced in getting your meal and looking at the date of your review it looks like you came here during the very first few days of opening. I’m sure you will appreciate that during that first week our staff were still getting to grips with their new jobs and surroundings, so hopefully next time you come here your whole experience will be as good as the food, which we’re really glad you enjoyed. Thanks again, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
