Had a great evening meal at the Old Rectory. Very good service from Dan's team, who were very friendly and welcoming, albeit at times a little too attentive as one by one all the service staff came by to ask us if we were enjoying the meal. We were enjoying the food very much. So delicious food from a great menu, with lots of choice, reasonable prices, smart restaurant or more casual dining in the bar. We'd been given a menu from the reception staff the day before our meal which was a nice touch and we have left this in the holiday cottage a short distance away with a recommendation to future guests to give it a try.

A group of us had a meal there last Night & the food was Delicious!!! Price was normal & service very attentive.
As the hotel is very popular for Weddings it does feel like your gate crashing when in Communal areas. Loos could be smartened up too. Slight hiccup with the bill as we had someone elses.
However the Food was Fabulous & I will definately be frequenting the place more often. Excellent & thank you for a scrumptious meal!

Just got back from 2 nights DB&B, staff great, room lovely bed really comfy in room 27. New chef and the food is excellent. First night I had the jack Daniels ribs which were to die for and hubby had the pork belly, night 2 we both went for the fresh tuna, delicious. The team handled the storm so well, the whole of the area had a black out for the evening and the restaurant was full of candles, so romantic. Staff were not flustered and the kitchen still produced high quality food and a full menu considering the difficult circumstances. Fantastic stay we will be back soon!!

We stayed here for two nights for a friends wedding in the summer and had an absolutely fabulous time. The setting is beautiful, the main building is the hotel and the large conservatory is the dining room but was transformed into a beautiful setting for the wedding service. The wedding breakfast and party was held in a large marquee in the grounds. The food all weekend was amazing and the staff could not do more do you. They were friendly and would go the extra mile for the guests. Our bedroom was small , but it had a lovely modern bathroom, was clean and looked out onto the front aspect. We had absolutely no complaints about the whole weekend and would definitely return here. My friends wedding was a memorable weekend, made all the more enjoyable by the lovely team of staff at the Old Rectory.

The rooms could use some upgrading. Ours was a little worn out. No lift in our section of the building. Adequate parking and free wi-fi available in some areas. Good complete breakfast. The staff was helpful but wasn't always available. Directions from the main highway were difficult especially going through Llangattock village. Don't hesitate to ask anyone once you cross the bridge and head up the hill. Some "Old Rectory" signs with arrows would be helpful. Be sure to stroll through the churchyard and pasture for a visit to Crickhowell and then walk up the hill beyond the Old Rectory to see the canal boats. Lovely area.

Room Tip: We were in Room 20 which overlooks the 9-hole golf course. Quiet. No lift to this section of the h...

My wife and I stayed for two nights, Friday and Saturday in November, and the welcome couldn't have been warmer. It was noticable that the staff were still busy cleaning although it was 2pm by the time we arrived, all were cheeerful and seemed happy in their work. Our room was very pleasant, warm and comfortable with bottled water and the usual tea and coffee provided. There was also a water dispenser/cooler on the landing and small chiller fridges in other areas with bottled water - a nice touch. Sophie (and her 7-month old son, Harry), who ran the place with her Dad Shaun, seemed to be everywhere, meeting, greeting and serving - nothing was too much trouble.

The meals were delicious, served on hot plates and plentiful. The breakfast sausages were local and very tasty. Try the 'Old Rectory' beer, very pleasant. Our stay coincided with the Wales v Australia Autumn International so the place filled with Welsh folk who loudly cheered their team on. At half-time we were served with chips in a cone, very unexpected but a very pleasant surprise.

We were in one of the suites on the 2nd floor - very comfortable and very quiet especially on the first night. On the second there were a couple of functions taking place and there was a bit of noise as the guests left the car park - solution, have a room overlooking the golf course.

Overally, this hotel is well worth the rating given by previous reviewers. We're already planning our next visit. Hopefully Harry will be walking by then!

Oh, by the way and just a small point, it would be nice to have nice fluffy white bath robes in the suites and perhaps (in the future) linen table napkins.

Thank you Sophie and Shaun.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter if there's a function and have the better views of the Brecons
