You will find this gem in a secluded village. Warm welcome, the room was clean and tidy, the view was amazing. Was welcomed at breakfast, and was promptly served coffee. My breakfast order was done to perfection, thank you. Would highly recommend.

Attended on Mothers day, to be seated by the entrance door in the bar area. (Although we booked) Although when we asked if we could sit in the restaurant they accommodated us.

Ordered 2 lamb dinners, and a small lamb dinner for our daughter. The food was cold with a dribble of gravy. My partner asked for extra meat and they gave him a thin slice.

We had to pay £50 for this, awful experience and disappointed.

Positive :The room was excellent.
After a long walk down the canal we returned to our room and enjoyed a relaxing jacuzzi bath!
Negative : our room was positioned just above the function room and the staff decided to set that up between 1-2am which involved dragging table around!
Although the staff were generally friendly and tried to help there was a distinct lack of professionalism/ service. Even after our stay they didn't seem to know which Mr Davies i was or whether I was in room 14 or 22!

Looks the part but could be much better

Found this hotel and had to return again. Warm greeting, nice evening meal freshly prepared and great Welsh breakfast.
Room 20 was comfortable and was perfect for doing some email catching up. FIRST TIME EVER I have stayed in a hotel which let me cast from You Tube directly from my iPhone. Brilliant. I shall return.

Beautiful retreat in the heart of Wales. The Old Rectory is excellent value for money. Our room was spotlessly clean, lovely and warm, and had tea/coffee making facilities.
The meals are served in a bright and spacious conservatory and the food is excellent. Highly recommend the duck and the tenderloin of pork. The Old Rectory is ideally based for visits to Abergavenny, Crickhowell and Usk. Many people staying in the hotel were dog walkers, hikers or people like us who just wanted to stroll and explore the nearby towns. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a comfortable bar to have drinks in the evening. Highly recommended!

Room tip: Crickhowell is a must see. It's very classy and boasts the famous Bear hotel and the beautiful recently refurbished Brittania restaurant.

The room was awful. It was a family room with a worn and stretched carpet which was old and shabby. The Bathroom had old fittings including a hard shower curtain in an old unit. There were holes around the skirting board and there was a sign on the mirror to say that the water was not drinking water. The room was small with an ill fitting window and the radiator thermostat was so old that it was either hot or cold, no in between. There was only a bar area to sit in as the entrance lobby fire was unlit and it was cold there. The restaurant remained closed, it was cold and dark so we had to eat in the bar. The food was good and the staff helpful, however we did not stay the night as the room was so bad we cited the weather as we didnt want to have a row about the conditions. We would have been better off at a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn. This is the very worst of British tourism

Room tip: Look at the room in person before accepting it.
