Took a while to find. Make sure you are speaking with the proprietor. This is a very unique experience for city dwellers. Natural hot springs and lots of NATURE! Nice little cabins to stay in. Just remember you are in Costa Rica. So are the "lions and tigers and bears!" Just kidding, but the snakes and bugs and "biting" plants can be extreme in areas like these. They are well worth the visit, just be aware of your environment!

“Immersed in pure nature”

My friend and I stayed in the Tree House at Bio Thermales for 6 nights. The unspoiled jungle setting and sounds of waterfalls and birds, and the proximity of 8 thermal pools and a swimming pool made for a healing retreat like no other ! Bernie and Kathy were so genuine and helpful to us, as was a local tour guide , Frank, who really assured us of a completely stress free holiday. We wisely chose to leave ALL the driving to him, and his experience and sensitivity to our needs was extraordinary and unforgettable. Couldn't have had a better trip REALLY !

“Wonderful Rainforest Spa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2012

My daughter and I stayed here for three days in the small Casita. It was a perfect size for us and we absolutely loved this spot! The drive here on the road was very well marked and our GPS actually got us almost to the front door. Follow the red and yellow signs and you will be fine! This is apparently a well known local spot and it got fairly crowded in the day, but we toured the Arenal Area in the day and at night all was quiet and we had the springs to ourselves! Every evening we would take our candles and pick a different spring and soak for an hour or so while listening to the wonderful jungle noises in the flickering candlelight. We were disappointed originally that the Tree House was booked, but the Casita was very nice and we did enjoy sitting on the veranda with our coffee every morning and watching the Toucans and our resident Green Iguana. The cottage was immaculate and provided everything that we needed for our morning breakfast and light cooking. We ordered dinner the first night and the food was delicious and delivered to our door at the requested time! My daughter and I truely enjoyed our visit and the location was very peaceful and quiet. Kathy was a fabulous Hostess and helped us with information on local tours and where to go and what to see in the area. I would recommend 4WD to navigate the road up the hillside - especially if it has been raining as it was when we were visiting - things got a bit muddy and slippery. I am so happy that we had the opportunity to visit this magic spot and hope to come back soon!

“Imagine feeing at HOME in the Rainforest Paradise!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2012

In our month visit in Costa Rica, we had the opportunity to be immersed in true paradise. Fortunately for us, we planned a weeklong stay at the Bio Thermals with owner-operators, Kathy and Bernie. No website review or boast can prepare one for the genuine hospitality, gorgeous jungle surroundings, healing and relaxing rainforest hot springs and the cozy, comfortable casitas in which we were so fortunately lodged.
There is much to do here in this tucked away paradise near La Palmera. We took advantage of the many hot springs scattered through the 30+ acre property. They are built as if part of the natural environment, which truly gives the feeling of oneness while bathing in the mineral-rich healing waters. After a day trip in Quesada ( a nearby town), La Fortuna the volcano town, or just a day out exploring the incredible green mountain trails, you can come back and at whatever time submerge your tired body into the pleasantly warm hot spring. From the pools to choose from, I especially enjoyed the one “primitive pool,” as I call it, which is nestled in between jungle trees, the views alone from the hot pools are pretty picturesque. The landscape and design is carefully and artistically laid out. The house we stayed in was hand crafted by the owners, and engraved with such delicate design to detail. We saved a lot of money by utilizing their kitchen and kitchen ware here.
We really enjoyed making our Costa Rican inspired meals here and then dining outside to our much beloved patio space. Hammocks, swinging benches and beautifully crafted wooden chairs assisted in keeping you comfortable while enjoying the natural beauty outside. The diversity of plant life is truly remarkable here in the jungle. What a pleasant escape watching butterflies, colorful hummingbirds and even the occasional chicken to greet the new day!
We couldn’t be more accommodated, and kindly hosted by the owners, and their assistants at the Bio Thermals. They are quick to help out with any needs or curiosities you may have as well as offer incredible recommendations for the “must see’s.” They helped our family plan a wonderful river rafting tour with a local biologist who had rich knowledge of the land and wildlife. They are the true definition of “Buena gente,” and we were so lucky to have had such a great experience here at The Bio Thermals! As a woman who loves to travel (and not lavishly) I highly recommend this place. Make sure this Costa Rican getaway is in your plans, you will be so happy you did!!
