Great place to relax and recover from everyday's life problems! Rooms are spacey, modern, clean, well furnished. Food in the restaurant is excellent! Wide choice and always fresh. Service is also on the high level. There is a Thalasso. We were there two times, because the oil showers were broken, personel gave us possibility to enter Thalasso few days later again.
Hotel is situated a few minutes walking distance to some cafe's and shopping center. Beach is 15 min easy walk.
There is no direct beach access from the hotel and it's a pity. There few swimming pools with sea water.
Fitness room is rather poor and very tiny - a real dissappointment for those, who would like to work out and stay in shape.
Entertainment programs are nice.

We have just returned from Villa del Conde after staying for 6 nights with my wife and 2 and a half year old daughter. We booked a junior suite half board through Sovreign.

Lets start with the positives first, the suite was great with separate living room and excellent balconies with sea views, meant our daughter could sleep in a separate room and my wife and I could have some down time! The pools were great, and the hotel is very nicely laid out and spacious, no problems getting a nice place by the pool. Food was pretty good, although think it was a bit cheeky getting my daughter to pay for half board. Overall, really nice place and very relaxing. Spa looked amazing.

So why not 5 stars - firstly the rooms have no sound proofing which was pretty poor - you could hear people going to the toilet above not to mention talking, babies crying etc. Secondly, the hotel is consistently trying to squeeze more cash out of you, even though there is a safe in the room you have to pay to activate it and to use an iron they want to charge you 6 Euros a night! No tea or coffee making facilities and a bit of a battle to even get another pillow for our daughter. Finally there is no beach - don't believe the beach within 300m or 800m - it is a good walk and then just a public beach as well.

Overall definitely a very nice hotel but not 5 stars and definitely not perfect.

This is the second time I've been to the hotel and plans are already underway to book for Winter 2011. An absolutely beautiful hotel with loads to do, a fantastic spa and great staff.

Some of the criticisms below I do agree with particularly the noise levels in the room. As this was the second time, I took ear plugs and slept like a baby. It is worth noting that we asked to move room because of the distance from there to the main dining area (we had a pensioner with us) and the reception staff were very accommodating.

I couldn't get enough of the food and there were themed Indian, Chinese and Italian nights, with a fantastic salad bar serving up smoked salmon, lobster and caviar on various times in the week. I'm not convinced that the options would satisfy vegetarians or vegans particularly as the labelling on the food is pretty minimal. There is a comment on the choice of breakfasts in one of the reviews particularly regarding the lack of poached eggs - I had poached eggs every day. Not on the menu but all you need to do is ask. Which leads on nicely to the best part of the hotel - the staff.

The staff from last year were still around and remembered us, which was a nice touch. They couldn't do enough for us particularly the waiting and bar staff. I would say that the hotel needs more people to work the tables in the plaza at night as you can wait for a while to be served but this is a minor point. It can also be inconvenient having to pay all bills on your room particularly if you don't want to have to pay for drinks separately, but the option of paying by cash or credit card does not seem to be the done thing.

The evening entertainment was variable. The Tribute to Michael Jackson was very funny and really entertaining but the German BeeGees were a bit strange and there were far too many acrobats for my liking. There is a kiddies disco which lasts from 7.30 - 8.15 and was great for the kids but beware ... you will be humming all the songs for a long time after your holiday finishes.

Overall, really happy with our choice again. Roll on next November ...

A massive sprawling complex with very well maintained gardens and pools. So big it took a while to find our way around the place!! Great place for kids, pools good and a pleasant 15 mins walk along the promenade to the beach. Buffet restuarants busy and maybe not enough staff to cope with crowds. food was good and plenty of choice. Best of all was the beautiful weather- blue sky the whole week! Bliss!!

Moans first. On arrival (at 9 p.m.) after check-in was expected to wait for 20 minutes to be taken to our room, there appeared to be only one porter on duty. As previous comments, the rooms are not soundproofed and our second week we had a baby in the room above ours which woke regularly at 4 a.m. and as the floors are tiled and mum wore shoes all the time this was quite annoying! Also was disappointing that there were no coffee/tea making facilities in the rooms. Luckily didn't go HB so ate elsewhere in the evenings, except once when we went to the Italian restaurant which was pretty dire. Food unexceptional, staff charmless and truly horrible oom- pah- pah music for the children until 8.30. First week plenty of people up before 8 a.m. to put their towels on sunloungers (there were plenty) then not arriving to sit on them until midday, there was an argument between two lots of Germans one morning over towels being moved :-(

On the positive side this is a well designed hotel in a very pleasant position far removed from the tacky Maspalomas area. We found our room and the hotel to be very clean. The swimming pools were lovely (to look at, as I didn't go in !) Breakfast was the usual buffet style with plenty of choice. The weather was perfect. If I ever went to Gran Canaria again I would stay in this hotel. We much preferred eating at Meloneros beach to the Maspalomas area, a lot less frantic and the waiters were more friendly and less rushed, a good Italian and several fish restaurants.

Overall, if you want a good hotel in a lovely climate within easy reach of UK this could be it.
