“highly surprised at this hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

this hotel is everything you could wish for on a lovely holiday, its clean, in fact immaculate, its design is extremely lovely, the staff are delightful, the food is delicous with plenty of choice and the desserts are fab, in all it would be difficult to fault anything, i would recomend this hotel to anyone, loads of beautiful pools with plenty of sunbeds is great. There has to be one moan though, it would have made things just perfect to 100 percent to have had a english movie channel to watch when u fancy having a lazy early night, im sure this could be sorted no problem. We loved having a bit of entertainment evenings after the childrens discos, but have to say my favourite night was the FOUR TOPS TRUBUTE BAND OCEANS 2 , very enjoyable evening , keep doing what you are doing baobab, and we will be back to see you all again, ty for a very enjoyable week and a big ty to all the immaculate housekeepers x

Room Tip: we had a garden view and it was lovely, the mountains in the background were a lovely sight

We stayed at this resort during the 1st week of June. It was totally amazing. Not much to look at when you pull up outside, but as soon as you walk in through the doors it is totally amazing. The pools and gardens are out of this world. The resort was very clean and the staff polite and helpful. The room was first class and clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. The only downside was the evening entertainment which was very poor. However you have to realise that the best acts are not going to perform in hotels. The hotel was very central and close to the beach for evening walks. There was evidence of sun loungers being reserved with towels, particularly by one family (Irish not Germans for once) despite being warned by the staff. However this didn't cause any problems as it was early season and the hotel was relatively quiet.

Room Tip: upgrade if you can. we did and had our own infinity pool

We have stayed here on two occasions and have loved it! The rooms are spotless and both times they have been in a great location.
The food is great with plenty of choice, even for my husband who is a bit of a picky eater! The staff are all efficient and friendly.
The pools, again, are spotless and we never had a problem getting a sun bed.
The local area is lovely with high quality shops and restaurants and we enjoyed sitting on the promenade wall with an ice cream from Pingu Soul every day.

Just back from the Lopesan Baobab and I have to say that we absolutely loved the place. If modern, contemporary style is for you then you will find it extremely difficult indeed to find anywhere better to stay for your holiday in the sun.

It's been written all before in the reviews below - I know, I read them all when deciding to book as well as before we went. It's all true! this place has the wow factor from the moment you arrive.

The staff were superb throughout. Your bags taken by trolly wherever you needed them to go. Cocktail on arrival. Stunning hotel design. Amazing pools with plenty of sunbeds freee to use. Brilliant kids club for our 5 year old.

Food was excellent in the buffet restaurants. Waiters serve you at the table with wine, etc. Food varies from night to night with Oriental, Indian, Italian, African, etc. Kids choice was a little limited though. Breakfast was superb every day. Only thing I would have liked different for breakfast was a choice of English style sausages rather than only continental.

The room was large, modern designed, with an excellent bathroom. Wet room style with huge bath. Powerful shower with great hot water. Mini bar in room stocked every day and reasonable prices.

Our room was booked through a Thompson package and was facing the Meloneras hotels rather than the pools. To be honest, I didn't miss the pool view at all. Our room had beautiful sunshine all afternoon thanks to facing away from the pools. We were on the second floor in the main building. Awesome view of the atrium from our corridor. This looked fab at night all lit up.

The kids entertainment was generally excellent and the Panchi World (two pools with water slides and kids club activities) was spot on. Adult entertainment could have been better. Shows were ok though with juggling acts, etc. But would prefer to see something that made my laugh more or better quality music acts.

The wifi in the hotel is poor. I used O2 travel bolt on instead. £2 per day for unlimited data and got 4G speeds. You can claim 30 minutes of free wifi in your room for each device you bring with you if you join the network and click a button in Spanish that basically says 'claim 30 free minutes'.

Maids serviced the room every day and left it in immaculate condition.

The grounds are huge and impressive. You can spend a week in the complex and never leave and you will still come back saying you had the best holiday. However, the local area around the hotel has nice bars and restaurants. A much more upmarket feel than Playa Del Ingles. Nice shops with great fashion.

There is a little pizzeria just beside the hotel in the Boulevard Oasis shopping complex joined to the hotel. I picked up lovely pizzas here (2 for 15 euros) for lunch one day (you can take away and enjoy on your balcony). Great pizzas cooked in a proper pizza oven rather than some cheap frozen versions.

The cleaniness and attention to detail is extremely impressive throughout the whole hotel. The pool toilets even have granite tiling, spotlighting, and superbly clean. The bathrooms have different styles throughout the various public areas given variety throughout the week.

Unlike most places, you will continue to see new things each and every day. You will get familiar with the complex as a whole but will start to see new little details that keep you in awe. The designer of this place was a wizard!

If you are reading reviews and wondering whether to bite the bullet - do it! This is the best hotel we have stayed in on a sunshine package holiday. In fact it's far better than many many city hotels and we've been to quite a few around the world.

Stayed here 24/3/14 to 7/4/14. Great place with huge grounds well kept and very clean, several pools all with their own features this includes an 'adults only' pool which is important as this resort is aimed at families with young children. Food was of a high quality and plenty of choice, service was good and all staff seem very helpful. The rooms are large and have amazing bathrooms to include power showers and good hair dryers. The location is good, 10 min walk to the shopping centre and promanade where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Yes, the hotel is dark but this is 'in keeping' with it's jungle theme which includes animal figures which the children love and unusal plants and trees etc. The entertainment was average mainly tribute acts some were enjoyable, in addition to the main acts there is a resident band who play varied dance music each evening.
Maid service daily to include fresh towels etc, you have to rent the safe which cost 35 euros for two weeks, again this is annoying in a 5 star hotel. Free WiFI in the main reception area. Plenty of sunbeds at each pool no need for the mad rush! Don't be put off by the exterior of the hotel which looks like it has scaffolding against it, once inside you will be wowed with pools, waterfalls etc.
A special mention must go to the reception staff who are very professional and helpful.

Room Tip: Request a pool view if possible as other side of hotel overlooks waste ground.

Lopesan Baobab Resort Location Exclusive luxury Lopesan Baobab Resort was inaugurated in 2009; it is located in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, in the exclusive Meloneras holiday area, just a few walking minutes away from the extensive, several kilometres long, Maspalomas beach and the impressive landscape of sand dunes. Famous Maspalomas lighthouse is situated nearby, as well as the long coastside promenade. ExpoMeloneras Convention Centre is also located only a few steps away from the hotel. General description Five-star hotel Lopesan Baobab Resort has become one of the preferred destinations for family holidays of Spanish national tourists. Thanks to the uniqueness of its architecture inspired by the African continent, its impressive water landscapes with pools, rivers and waterfalls, as well as the high quality services offered, this hotel shows off ethnic charm, modernity and refinement. The hotel’s main entrance leads guests over a picturesque wooden bridge to the reception area, passing a grandiose aquatic landscape with waterfalls. From the lobby you can reach the hotel rooms or the large garden area, on a surface of 56,000 square metres, in the centre of which a large 21 metres high wooden African lodge is located; this lodge houses a restaurant and a bar. Common areas are connected by an extensive sheet of water crisscrossed by small bridges. In total there are nine swimming pools (all of them heatable at different temperatures) covering a total surface of 4,245 square metres. Specially outstanding are: the “lazy river”, two artificial beaches, pools with waterfalls and caves, the “chocolate” pool (the name of which refers to its brown colour) and the “two palm trees” pool, as well as a pool with water attractions for children and babies. The hotel’s leisure and recreation areas are enriched even more by a complete entertainment programme with a variety of activities during the day and in the evenings. Materials used for the hotel’s interior decoration and design were carefully chosen searching the appropriate item for every single corner of the hotel complex. On the walls of the hotel’s buffet restaurants guests will appreciate layers of natural coconut and wooden bricks, as well as French porcelain stoneware on the floors of the pool areas. Regarding the hotel rooms an exquisite finishing with high-quality woodwork and sound insulation was chosen. Other materials which can be found around the hotel are dry bamboo, die-cut steel or coloured mortar with added shredded straw to simulate adobe. Rooms The rooms’ interior design carefully combines colour schemes and African ambience. The Lopesan Baobab was built on a plot of 72,000 square metres with a total of 522 standard double rooms, 8 of them modified for guests with limited mobility and 17 deluxe double rooms with pool, perfect for guests looking for privacy, romanticism and/or relaxation; there are also 55 family doubles and 15 family doubles with direct access to the “chocolate” and the “two palm trees” pools, as well as 8 superior double rooms, 40 junior suites, 20 senior suites and 1 royal suite. There is no doubt that the hotel’s different room categories can meet any requirement or need guests may have, since they can choose from comfortable standard rooms, spacious family rooms, luxury rooms or magnificent suites for young and old. All rooms offer excellent views which vary depending on their location, as for example beautiful panoramic views on the dunes, on the nearby palm oasis, on the hotel’s garden area or the island’s mountain landscape. Gastronomy The Lopesan Baobab Resort offers high quality cuisine in all restaurants, characterized by an elevated level of creativity. For this purpose the hotel’s select kitchen staff puts special emphasis on using the best products and on preparing them in presence of the hotel guests. The ‘Akara’ Restaurant is only open for dinner and its name refers to an African recipe; it offers flavours from the very heart of Africa with a menu committed to originality. The hotel’s second a la carte restaurant is the ‘Pili Pili’ Restaurant, open at lunchtime and specialised in paellas, seafood and grilled meat. Furthermore, there are two buffet restaurants, the ’Marula’ and the ‘Baobab’, the premises of which are conveniently separated to provide differentiated atmospheres where delicacies from international occidental cuisine are served. The restaurants’ wine cellar provides an excellent selection of the finest wines from around the world as a complement to the great gastronomic offer. The hotel also hosts five bars, two of them located in the pool areas; Henry Stanley bar and Mungo Park Bar complete the resort’s restaurant and bar options. Leisure and sports activities The hotel has at its guests’ disposal a complete and varied entertainment programme, offering something for everybody. Many of the organised activities take place during the day and in the evenings, when it’s just the right time to have a drink or enjoy professional shows on the hotel’s outdoor plaza, on a specially designed stage, next to the magnificent African lodge. Furthermore the resort offers a fully-equipped gym and a varied wellness programme, as well as other activities for sports fans. For golf fans the golf courses of Meloneras Golf and Maspalomas Golf are available and a free bus shuttle service to these golf courses is provided by the hotel. For the little hotel guests fun is guaranteed at the hotel’s Panchi World Mini-Club with a stage and two pools for children, one of them with a water-slide. The Lopesan Baobab Resort also houses specially equipped rooms for conferences, conventions and events with highly functional and stylish facilities which can be easily modified and adapted to hold particular events. The hotel’s large panoramic ‘Karisimbi’ room is specially outstanding with a size of 1,002 square metres and a capacity for 800 persons, the perfect choice for any kind of celebration, conference or event.
