“Not to be missed”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Set in rambling grounds a short distance out of Truro, the imposing facade of this Grade 2 listed house hints at what may be within.

The warm greeting from Judy makes you feel quickly at home.

Our room was huge with two sets of windows overlooking the gardens, the bed large and comfortable. The bathroom was splendid with a magnificent shower.

The decor throughout the property is light and contemporary with an eclectic mix of furnishings and paintings by local artists.

Breakfast was great too.

Good value and the perfect place to stay in the Truro area

Judy and Chris rent out this house from July to End August and we were very lucky to be able to rent this fantastic property with its period charm and home from home touches. We stayed for 1 week in August .The house is amazing with all the rooms and especially the outside space, the heated pool, trampoline and zip wire a big hit with ourselves and especially the Children, the garden is enclosed so very private. Two families stayed at this house but you could certainly get another family in, ample rooms to not be on top of each other.A perfect place to spend a vacation, lots to see and do around this part of Devon. A big thank you to Judy for the scones, cream and Jam and bottle of champagne for our arrival.

This house is fantastic, the pictures online do not do it justice!
The house has an out door pool with a spacious terrace and a huge well maintained garden with a large garden area, trampoline, zip wire (thye kids loved this!) and a tree house - the kids were in heaven!
Inside there are two large sitting areas and one in particular with a huge fireplace, the second room is great for sitting down of an evening in for dinner. The kitchen has a 4 oven AGA and another seating area for breakfast.
There is then a stunning staircase that splits two ways at the top - right to a seperate bedroom with its own bathroom, whilst left splits off to the main part of the house.
In the main part of the house there is a very large master bedrooom with great views over the garden, it has an ensuite with a huge stand alone shower and a large deep sunken bath - with his and hers sinks. Opposite this room is the kids room with a double bed and bunk beds in it, the bunk beds are a harrods bed in the form of a double decker bus - the kids loved going to bed for once!
There is also another family bathroom here. When you carry on through the hallway you go down a couple of steps and get to what must have been the old servants area where there are two double bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with two twin beds in) with another bathroom in between the two rooms.
The house is a ten to fifteen minute walk to Truro, although you can see why they named the road St Clements Hill, you would need to be fairly fit to walk back up to the house from town!
A fantastic house, that would fit two families more than comfortably, 6 adults and 4 kids would be perfect here, with enough room to fit cots elsewhere.
We were extremely lucky with the weather here which helped, but I could not recommend this house highly enough.

We stayed at South Penarth for just 1 night, but wish we could have stayed longer! It is perfectly located within 5 minutes of Truro town centre, but secluded away from the main roads.
The room was amazing, Judy and Chris were fantastic hosts and all the little details which make a stay extra special were included. Homemade biscuits in our room, homemade fresh bread & jams at breakfast plus full english on the menu.
We can't wait to return and have recommended to all our friends.
